In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
بِسْمِbis'miIn (the) nameٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) God,ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmāniMost Gracious,ٱلرَّحِيمِl-raḥīmiMost Merciful.
[62:1] Glorifying GOD is everything in the heavens and everything on earth; the King, the Most Sacred, the Almighty, the Most Wise.
يُسَبِّحُyusabbiḥu[It] glorifiesلِلَّهِlillahi[to] Godمَاmāwhateverفِىfīinٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَاwamāand whateverفِىfīinٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth,ٱلْمَلِكِl-malikithe King,ٱلْقُدُّوسِl-qudūsithe Holy One / Most Sacred,ٱلْعَزِيزِl-ʿazīzithe Almighty,ٱلْحَكِيمِl-ḥakīmiMost Wise. ﴿١﴾
[62:2] He is the One who sent to the gentiles a messenger from among them, to recite to them His revelations, purify them, and teach them the scripture and wisdom. Before this, they had gone far astray.
هُوَhuwaHe (is)ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One whoبَعَثَbaʿathaHe sent / appointed / raisedفِىfīamongٱلْأُمِّيِّـۧنَl-umiyīnathe gentilesرَسُولًاrasūlana messengerمِّنْهُمْmin'humfrom (among) themيَتْلُوا۟yatlūhe recitesعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themءَايَـٰتِهِۦāyātihiHis verses / revelations,وَيُزَكِّيهِمْwayuzakkīhimand he purifies themوَيُعَلِّمُهُمُwayuʿallimuhumuand he teaches themٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe scriptureوَٱلْحِكْمَةَwal-ḥik'mataand the wisdomوَإِنwa-inand indeedكَانُوا۟kānūthey wereمِنminfromقَبْلُqablubeforeلَفِىlafīsurely [in]ضَلَـٰلٍḍalālinastrayمُّبِينٍmubīninclear. ﴿٢﴾
[62:3] And to many generations subsequent to them. He is the Almighty, Most Wise.
وَءَاخَرِينَwaākharīnaAnd othersمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themلَمَّاlammāwhenيَلْحَقُوا۟yalḥaqūthey joinبِهِمْbihimwith them;وَهُوَwahuwaand He (is)ٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzuthe Almighty,ٱلْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuMost Wise. ﴿٣﴾
[62:4] Such is GOD's grace that He bestows upon whomever He wills. GOD is Possessor of Infinite Grace.
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat (is)فَضْلُfaḍlu(the) bounty / graceٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) God.يُؤْتِيهِyu'tīhiHe gives itمَنman(to) whomيَشَآءُyashāuHe wills.وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd God (is)ذُوdhūPossessor ofٱلْفَضْلِl-faḍliAll Bounty / Graceٱلْعَظِيمِl-ʿaẓīmithe Great / Infinite. ﴿٤﴾
[62:5] The example of those who were given the Torah then failed to uphold it is like the donkey carrying great works of literature. Miserable indeed is the example of people who rejected GOD's revelations. GOD does not guide the wicked people.
مَثَلُmathalu(The) example (of)ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoحُمِّلُوا۟ḥummilūthey were responsible for upholdingٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَl-tawrātathe Torahثُمَّthummathenلَمْlamnotيَحْمِلُوهَاyaḥmilūhāthey uphold it,كَمَثَلِkamathali(is) like (the) example ofٱلْحِمَارِl-ḥimārithe donkeyيَحْمِلُyaḥmilu(who) he carriesأَسْفَارًۢاasfāranlarge books (great books of literature).بِئْسَbi'saMiserable isمَثَلُmathalu(the) example (of)ٱلْقَوْمِl-qawmithe people,ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathe ones whoكَذَّبُوا۟kadhabūthey denied / rejectedبِـَٔايَـٰتِbiāyātiin (the) signs / revelationsٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) God.وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd GodلَاlānotيَهْدِىyahdīHe guidesٱلْقَوْمَl-qawmathe people,ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers / wicked [ones]. ﴿٥﴾
[62:6] Say, "O you who are Jewish, if you claim that you are GOD's chosen, to the exclusion of all other people, then you should long for death if you are truthful!"
قُلْqulSay,يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoهَادُوٓا۟hādūthey were Jewish!إِنinIfزَعَمْتُمْzaʿamtumyou [all] claimأَنَّكُمْannakumthat you [all] (are)أَوْلِيَآءُawliyāualliesلِلَّهِlillahiof Godمِنminfromدُونِdūniexcludingٱلنَّاسِl-nāsiall people,فَتَمَنَّوُا۟fatamannawūthen wish / long [you all] (for)ٱلْمَوْتَl-mawtathe death,إِنinifكُنتُمْkuntumyou [all] areصَـٰدِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful ones." ﴿٦﴾
[62:7] They will never long for it, because of what they have committed. GOD is fully aware of the wicked.
وَلَاwalāBut notيَتَمَنَّوْنَهُۥٓyatamannawnahuthey wish / long for it,أَبَدًۢاabadanever,بِمَاbimāfor whatقَدَّمَتْqaddamat[it] sent forthأَيْدِيهِمْaydīhimtheir hands.وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd God (is)عَلِيمٌۢʿalīmunfully awareبِٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَbil-ẓālimīnaof the wrongdoers / wicked [ones]. ﴿٧﴾
[62:8] Say, "The death that you are trying to evade will catch up with you sooner or later. Then you will be returned to the Knower of all secrets and declarations, then He will inform you of everything you had done."
قُلْqulSay,إِنَّinna"Indeed,ٱلْمَوْتَl-mawtathe deathٱلَّذِىalladhīwhichتَفِرُّونَtafirrūnayou [all] fleeمِنْهُmin'hufrom it,فَإِنَّهُۥfa-innahuthen surely itمُلَـٰقِيكُمْmulāqīkumone which will meet you [all].ثُمَّthummaThenتُرَدُّونَturaddūnayou [all] will be returnedإِلَىٰilātoعَـٰلِمِʿālimi(the) Knower (of)ٱلْغَيْبِl-ghaybithe unseen / secretوَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِwal-shahādatiand the testimony / declaration,فَيُنَبِّئُكُمfayunabbi-ukumthen He will inform you [all]بِمَاbimāof whatكُنتُمْkuntumyou [all] used toتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūna[you all] do." ﴿٨﴾
Important Commandments to All Believers
[62:9] O you who believe, when the Congregational Prayer (Salat Al-Jumu'ah) is announced on Friday, you shall hasten to the commemoration of GOD, and drop all business. This is better for you, if you only knew.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُوٓا۟āmanū[they] believed!إِذَاidhāWhenنُودِىَnūdiya(the) call was madeلِلصَّلَوٰةِlilṣṣalatifor the Prayer (Salat)مِنminonيَوْمِyawmi(the) day (of)ٱلْجُمُعَةِl-jumuʿati[the] Friday / Congregation,فَٱسْعَوْا۟fa-is'ʿawthen strive / hasten [you all]إِلَىٰilātoذِكْرِdhik'ri(the) remembrance / commemorationٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Godوَذَرُوا۟wadharūand leave [you all]ٱلْبَيْعَl-bayʿathe business.ذَٰلِكُمْdhālikumThat [you all] (is)خَيْرٌkhayrunbetterلَّكُمْlakumfor you [all],إِنinifكُنتُمْkuntumyou [all] [happen]تَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūna[you all] know. ﴿٩﴾
[62:10] Once the prayer is completed, you may spread through the land to seek GOD's bounties, and continue to remember GOD frequently, that you may succeed.
فَإِذَاfa-idhāThen whenقُضِيَتِquḍiyati[it] was concludedٱلصَّلَوٰةُl-ṣalatuthe Contact Prayer (Salat),فَٱنتَشِرُوا۟fa-intashirūthen disperse [you all]فِىfīinٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe landوَٱبْتَغُوا۟wa-ib'taghūand seek [you all]مِنminfromفَضْلِfaḍli(the) bountyٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Godوَٱذْكُرُوا۟wa-udh'kurūand remember [you all] ٱللَّهَl-lahaGodكَثِيرًاkathīranmuch / frequentlyلَّعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you [all] mayتُفْلِحُونَtuf'liḥūna[you all] succeed. ﴿١٠﴾
[62:11] When some of them come across a business deal, or some entertainment, they rush to it and leave you standing! Say, "What GOD possesses is far better than the entertainment or the business. GOD is the best Provider."
وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenرَأَوْا۟ra-awthey sawتِجَـٰرَةًtijāratana business dealأَوْaworلَهْوًاlahwana sport / entertainment,ٱنفَضُّوٓا۟infaḍḍūthey flocked / rushedإِلَيْهَاilayhāto itوَتَرَكُوكَwatarakūkaand [they] left youقَآئِمًاqāimanstanding.قُلْqulSay,مَاmā"What (is)عِندَʿindawith / atٱللَّهِl-lahiGod (is)خَيْرٌkhayrunbetterمِّنَminathanٱللَّهْوِl-lahwithe sport / entertainmentوَمِنَwaminaand fromٱلتِّجَـٰرَةِl-tijāratithe business.وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd God (is)خَيْرُkhayru(the) Best (of)ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَl-rāziqīnathe providers." ﴿١١﴾
