In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
بِسْمِbis'miIn (the) nameٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) God,ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmāniMost Gracious,ٱلرَّحِيمِl-raḥīmiMost Merciful.
[43:1] H. M.*
حمٓhha-meemH.M. ﴿١﴾
*43:1 See Footnote 40:1. The frequency of occurrence of the letters "H" (Hã) and "M" (Mîm) in the seven H.M.-initialed suras is 292, and 1855, respectively. This adds up to 2147, or 19x113.
[43:2] And the enlightening scripture.
وَٱلْكِتَـٰبِwal-kitābiBy the book / scriptureٱلْمُبِينِl-mubīnithe clear / profound / enlightening. ﴿٢﴾
[43:3] We have rendered it an Arabic Quran, that you may understand.*
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, weجَعَلْنَـٰهُjaʿalnāhu[we] made itقُرْءَٰنًاqur'ānana QuranعَرَبِيًّاʿarabiyyanArabicلَّعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you [all] mayتَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūna[you all] understand. ﴿٣﴾
*43:3 Arabic is the most efficient language, especially in expressing commandments, statutes and exacting laws. Hence the revelation of the Quran in Arabic for the clear understanding of all peoples, regardless of their tongues. See Appendix 4 for the details.
[43:4] It is preserved with us in the original master, honorable and full of wisdom.
وَإِنَّهُۥwa-innahuAnd indeed, itفِىٓfī(is) inأُمِّummi(the) Mother / original (of)ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābithe book / record / masterلَدَيْنَاladaynāwith us,لَعَلِىٌّlaʿaliyyunsurely exalted / honorable,حَكِيمٌḥakīmun(full of) wisdom. ﴿٤﴾
[43:5] Should we just ignore the fact that you have transgressed the limits?*
أَفَنَضْرِبُafanaḍribuThen should we strike (*from the record)عَنكُمُʿankumufrom you [all]ٱلذِّكْرَl-dhik'rathe reminder,صَفْحًاṣafḥanturning away / disregarding / overlooking,أَنanthatكُنتُمْkuntumyou [all] areقَوْمًاqawmana peopleمُّسْرِفِينَmus'rifīnatransgressors / ones who exceed the limits? ﴿٥﴾
*43:5 This refers to our original sin as detailed in the Introduction and Appendix 7.
The Plan for Redemption
[43:6] We have sent many a prophet to the previous generations.
وَكَمْwakamAnd how manyأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāwe sentمِنminofنَّبِىٍّnabiyyina prophetفِىfīamongٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīnathe former [ones] (people). ﴿٦﴾
[43:7] Every time a prophet went to them, they ridiculed him.
وَمَاwamāAnd notيَأْتِيهِمyatīhimit comes to themمِّنminanyنَّبِىٍّnabiyyinprophetإِلَّاillābutكَانُوا۟kānūthey used toبِهِۦbihiat himيَسْتَهْزِءُونَyastahziūna[they] mock / ridicule ﴿٧﴾
[43:8] Consequently, we annihilated people who were even more powerful than these. We thus set the examples from the previous communities.
فَأَهْلَكْنَآfa-ahlaknāThen we destroyed / annihilatedأَشَدَّashaddastrongerمِنْهُمmin'humthan themبَطْشًاbaṭshan(in) powerوَمَضَىٰwamaḍāand [it] passedمَثَلُmathalu(the) example ofٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīnathe former [ones] (people) / past generations. ﴿٨﴾
[43:9] If you asked them, "Who created the heavens and the earth," they would say, "The Almighty, the Omniscient has created them."
وَلَئِنwala-inAnd surely ifسَأَلْتَهُمsa-altahumyou asked them,مَّنْman"Whoخَلَقَkhalaqa[he] createdٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earth?"لَيَقُولُنَّlayaqūlunnaSurely they will say,خَلَقَهُنَّkhalaqahunna"[He] created themٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzuthe Almighty,ٱلْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmuthe Omniscient," ﴿٩﴾
[43:10] He is the One who made the earth habitable for you, and created for you roads therein, that you may follow the right way.
ٱلَّذِىalladhīThe One whoجَعَلَjaʿalaHe madeلَكُمُlakumufor you [all]ٱلْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earthمَهْدًاmahdan(as) a bed / resting place / comfortable / habitableوَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand He madeلَكُمْlakumfor you [all]فِيهَاfīhāthereinسُبُلًاsubulanroadsلَّعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you [all] mayتَهْتَدُونَtahtadūna[you all] be guided. ﴿١٠﴾
[43:11] He is the One who sends down from the sky water, in exact measure, to revive dead lands therewith. Similarly, you will be resurrected.
وَٱلَّذِىwa-alladhīAnd the One whoنَزَّلَnazzalaHe sent downمِنَminafromٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe skyمَآءًۢmāanwaterبِقَدَرٍbiqadarinin precise measure,فَأَنشَرْنَاfa-ansharnāthen we revivedبِهِۦbihiwith itبَلْدَةًbaldatana landمَّيْتًاmaytandead,كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikalike that (similarly)تُخْرَجُونَtukh'rajūnayou [all] will be brought out (resurrected). ﴿١١﴾
[43:12] He is the One who created all kinds, in pairs (male and female), and He created for you ships and livestock to ride.
وَٱلَّذِىwa-alladhīAnd the One whoخَلَقَkhalaqaHe createdٱلْأَزْوَٰجَl-azwājathe pairsكُلَّهَاkullahāall of themوَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand He madeلَكُمlakumfor you [all]مِّنَminaofٱلْفُلْكِl-ful'kithe shipsوَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِwal-anʿāmiand the cattle / livestockمَاmāwhatتَرْكَبُونَtarkabūnayou [all] ride. ﴿١٢﴾
[43:13] As you rest on top of them, you shall appreciate such a blessing from your Lord, and say, "Glory be to the One who subdued this for us. We could not have controlled them by ourselves.
لِتَسْتَوُۥا۟litastawūThat you [all] may sit firmly / rest,عَلَىٰʿalāuponظُهُورِهِۦẓuhūrihitheir backs,ثُمَّthummathenتَذْكُرُوا۟tadhkurūyou [all] rememberنِعْمَةَniʿ'mata(the) favor / blessingرَبِّكُمْrabbikum(of) your Lordإِذَاidhāwhenٱسْتَوَيْتُمْis'tawaytumyou [all] sat firmlyعَلَيْهِʿalayhion themوَتَقُولُوا۟wataqūlūand [you all] (shall) say,سُبْحَـٰنَsub'ḥāna"Glory beٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One whoسَخَّرَsakharaHe committed to serveلَنَاlanāfor usهَـٰذَاhādhāthis,وَمَاwamāand notكُنَّاkunnāwe wereلَهُۥlahuof itمُقْرِنِينَmuq'rinīnaones capable to subdue. ﴿١٣﴾
[43:14] "We ultimately return to our Lord."
وَإِنَّآwa-innā"And indeed, weإِلَىٰilātoرَبِّنَاrabbināour Lord,لَمُنقَلِبُونَlamunqalibūnasurely ones who will return." ﴿١٤﴾
Angels As Daughters: A Blasphemy
[43:15] They even assigned for Him a share from His own creation! Surely, the human being is profoundly unappreciative.
وَجَعَلُوا۟wajaʿalūBut they attributedلَهُۥlahuto HimمِنْminfromعِبَادِهِۦʿibādihiHis servantsجُزْءًاjuz'ana portion / share.إِنَّinnaIndeed,ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَl-insānathe man / human being (is)لَكَفُورٌlakafūrunsurely unappreciativeمُّبِينٌmubīnunprofound / clear. ﴿١٥﴾
[43:16] Has He chosen from among His creations daughters for Himself, while blessing you with sons?
أَمِamiOr hasٱتَّخَذَittakhadhaHe takenمِمَّاmimmāof what,يَخْلُقُyakhluquHe creates,بَنَاتٍbanātindaughtersوَأَصْفَىٰكُمwa-aṣfākumand He chose for you [all]بِٱلْبَنِينَbil-banīnaof the sons? ﴿١٦﴾
[43:17] When one of them is given news (of a daughter) as they claimed for the Most Gracious, his face is darkened with misery and anger!
وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenبُشِّرَbushira[he] was given good newsأَحَدُهُمaḥaduhumone of themبِمَاbimāof whatضَرَبَḍarabahe set upلِلرَّحْمَـٰنِlilrraḥmānifor (the) Most Graciousمَثَلًاmathalan(as) a likeness,ظَلَّẓalla[it] became [dark]وَجْهُهُۥwajhuhuhis faceمُسْوَدًّاmus'waddandarkenedوَهُوَwahuwaand heكَظِيمٌkaẓīmun[he] suppressed grief. ﴿١٧﴾
[43:18] (They say,) "What is good about an offspring that is brought up to be beautiful, and cannot help in war?"
أَوَمَنawaman(They think,) "(What good) is (one) whoيُنَشَّؤُا۟yunasha-uit is brought up / produced / raisedفِىfīforٱلْحِلْيَةِl-ḥil'yatithe ornaments / adorning (beauty)وَهُوَwahuwaand [it] isفِىfīinٱلْخِصَامِl-khiṣāmithe quarrel / feud / warغَيْرُghayrunotمُبِينٍmubīninclear (useful)?" ﴿١٨﴾
[43:19] They claimed that the angels, who are servants of the Most Gracious, are females! Have they witnessed their creation? Their claims are recorded, and they will be asked.
وَجَعَلُوا۟wajaʿalūAnd they made,ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَl-malāikatathe angels,ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoهُمْhumthey (themselves are)عِبَـٰدُʿibāduservants (of)ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmāni(the) Most Gracious,إِنَـٰثًاināthanfemales.أَشَهِدُوا۟ashahidūHave they witnessedخَلْقَهُمْkhalqahumtheir creation?سَتُكْتَبُsatuk'tabu[It] will be recordedشَهَـٰدَتُهُمْshahādatuhumtheir testimony,وَيُسْـَٔلُونَwayus'alūnaand they will be questioned. ﴿١٩﴾
[43:20] They even said, "If the Most Gracious willed, we would not have worshiped them." They have no basis for such a claim; they only conjecture.*
وَقَالُوا۟waqālūAnd they said,لَوْlaw"Ifشَآءَshāa[He] willedٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُl-raḥmānu(the) Most Gracious,مَاmānotعَبَدْنَـٰهُمʿabadnāhumwe (would have) worshiped them."مَّاmāNotلَهُمlahumfor themبِذَٰلِكَbidhālikaabout thatمِنْminanyعِلْمٍʿil'minknowledge.إِنْinNotهُمْhumthey (do)إِلَّاillābutيَخْرُصُونَyakhruṣūnathey conjecture. ﴿٢٠﴾
*43:20 The idol worshipers cannot blame God for their idolatry, since we have absolute freedom of choice to worship God alone, or not.
[43:21] Have we given them a book before this, and they are upholding it?
أَمْamOr haveءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْātaynāhumwe gave themكِتَـٰبًاkitābana bookمِّنminfromقَبْلِهِۦqablihibefore it,فَهُمfahumso they (are)بِهِۦbihito itمُسْتَمْسِكُونَmus'tamsikūnaones holding fast? ﴿٢١﴾
Inherited Traditions Condemned
[43:22] The fact is: they said, "We found our parents carrying on certain practices, and we are following in their footsteps."
بَلْbalNay,قَالُوٓا۟qālūthey said,إِنَّاinnā"Indeed, [we]وَجَدْنَآwajadnāwe foundءَابَآءَنَاābāanāour forefathers / parentsعَلَىٰٓʿalāuponأُمَّةٍummatina religion / community / religious practicesوَإِنَّاwa-innāand indeed, we (are)عَلَىٰٓʿalāuponءَاثَـٰرِهِمāthārihimtheir footstepsمُّهْتَدُونَmuh'tadūnathose who are guided." ﴿٢٢﴾
[43:23] Invariably, when we sent a warner to any community, the leaders of that community would say, "We found our parents following certain practices, and we will continue in their footsteps."
وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusمَآmānotأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāwe sentمِنminfromقَبْلِكَqablikabefore youفِىfīinقَرْيَةٍqaryatina town / communityمِّنminanyنَّذِيرٍnadhīrinwarnerإِلَّاillāexceptقَالَqāla[he] saidمُتْرَفُوهَآmut'rafūhāits wealthy ones / leaders,إِنَّاinnā"Indeed, [we]وَجَدْنَآwajadnāwe foundءَابَآءَنَاābāanāour forefathers / parentsعَلَىٰٓʿalāuponأُمَّةٍummatina religion / community / religious practicesوَإِنَّاwa-innāand indeed, we (are)عَلَىٰٓʿalāuponءَاثَـٰرِهِمāthārihimtheir traditions / legacy / footstepsمُّقْتَدُونَmuq'tadūnafollowers / [ones who] imitate." ﴿٢٣﴾
[43:24] (The messenger) would say, "What if I brought to you better guidance than what you inherited from your parents?" They would say, "We are disbelievers in the message you brought."
قَـٰلَqālaHe said,أَوَلَوْawalaw"Even ifجِئْتُكُمji'tukumI have came to you [all]بِأَهْدَىٰbi-ahdāwith better guidanceمِمَّاmimmāthan whatوَجَدتُّمْwajadttumyou [all] foundعَلَيْهِʿalayhion itءَابَآءَكُمْābāakumyour forefathers / parents?"قَالُوٓا۟qālūThey said,إِنَّاinnā"Indeed, we (are)بِمَآbimāwith whatأُرْسِلْتُمur'sil'tumyou [all] were sentبِهِۦbihiwith itكَـٰفِرُونَkāfirūnadisbelievers." ﴿٢٤﴾
[43:25] Consequently, we requited them. Note the consequences for the rejectors.
فَٱنتَقَمْنَاfa-intaqamnāSo we requitedمِنْهُمْmin'humof them.فَٱنظُرْfa-unẓurThen seeكَيْفَkayfahowكَانَkānawasعَـٰقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) consequence / end (for)ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَl-mukadhibīnathe deniers / rejectors. ﴿٢٥﴾
Abraham's Example
[43:26] Abraham said to his father and his people, "I disown what you worship.
وَإِذْwa-idhAnd when / recallقَالَqāla[He] saidإِبْرَٰهِيمُib'rāhīmuAbrahamلِأَبِيهِli-abīhito his fatherوَقَوْمِهِۦٓwaqawmihiand his people,إِنَّنِىinnanī"Indeed, I amبَرَآءٌbarāondisassociated / exempt / freeمِّمَّاmimmāfrom whatتَعْبُدُونَtaʿbudūnayou [all] worship. ﴿٢٦﴾
[43:27] "Only the One who initiated me can guide me."
إِلَّاillā"Exceptٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One whoفَطَرَنِىfaṭaranīHe created / initiated me;فَإِنَّهُۥfa-innahuand indeed, Heسَيَهْدِينِsayahdīni[He] will guide me." ﴿٢٧﴾
[43:28] This example (of Abraham) was rendered an everlasting lesson for subsequent generations; perhaps they redeem their souls.
وَجَعَلَهَاwajaʿalahāAnd he made itكَلِمَةًۢkalimatana wordبَاقِيَةًbāqiyataneverlastingفِىfīamongعَقِبِهِۦʿaqibihihis descendents,لَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَرْجِعُونَyarjiʿūna[they] return. ﴿٢٨﴾
[43:29] Indeed, I have given these people and their ancestors sufficient chances, then the truth came to them, and a clarifying messenger.
بَلْbalNay,مَتَّعْتُmattaʿtuI allowed to enjoy wordly provisions / I gave comfortهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāi(to) theseوَءَابَآءَهُمْwaābāahumand their forefathersحَتَّىٰḥattāuntilجَآءَهُمُjāahumu[it] came to themٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaquthe truthوَرَسُولٌwarasūlunand a messengerمُّبِينٌmubīnunclear / clarifying. ﴿٢٩﴾
[43:30] When the truth came to them, they said, "This is magic, and we are disbelievers therein."
وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenجَآءَهُمُjāahumu[it] came to themٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaquthe truth,قَالُوا۟qālūthey said,هَـٰذَاhādhā"This (is)سِحْرٌsiḥ'runmagic,وَإِنَّاwa-innāand indeed, we (are)بِهِۦbihiin itكَـٰفِرُونَkāfirūnadisbelievers." ﴿٣٠﴾
Muhammad Ridiculed
[43:31] They said, "If only this Quran was sent down through another man from the two communities (Mecca or Yathrib) who is prominent!"
وَقَالُوا۟waqālūAnd they said,لَوْلَاlawlā"Why notنُزِّلَnuzzila[it] was sent downهَـٰذَاhādhāthisٱلْقُرْءَانُl-qur'ānu[the] Quranعَلَىٰʿalātoرَجُلٍrajulina man,مِّنَminafromٱلْقَرْيَتَيْنِl-qaryataynithe two towns,عَظِيمٍʿaẓīmingreat (prominent)?" ﴿٣١﴾
[43:32] Are they the ones who assign your Lord's mercy? We have assigned their shares in this life, raising some of them above others in ranks, in order to let them serve one another. The mercy from your Lord is far better than any material they may hoard.
أَهُمْahumDo theyيَقْسِمُونَyaqsimūna[they] distributeرَحْمَتَraḥmata(the) mercy (of)رَبِّكَrabbikayour Lord?نَحْنُnaḥnuWeقَسَمْنَاqasamnā[we] distributedبَيْنَهُمbaynahumamong themمَّعِيشَتَهُمْmaʿīshatahumtheir necessities of life / sharesفِىfīinٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayatithe life (of)ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe world,وَرَفَعْنَاwarafaʿnāand we raisedبَعْضَهُمْbaʿḍahumsome of themفَوْقَfawqaaboveبَعْضٍbaʿḍinsome othersدَرَجَـٰتٍdarajātin(in) ranksلِّيَتَّخِذَliyattakhidhaso that [he] may takeبَعْضُهُمbaʿḍuhumsome of themبَعْضًاbaʿḍansome othersسُخْرِيًّاsukh'riyyanin service / subservient.وَرَحْمَتُwaraḥmatuBut (the) mercy (of)رَبِّكَrabbikayour Lord (is)خَيْرٌkhayrunbetterمِّمَّاmimmāthan whatيَجْمَعُونَyajmaʿūnathey accumulate / hoard. ﴿٣٢﴾
Materials of This World: All That The Disbelievers Get
[43:33] If it were not that all the people might become one (disbelieving) congregation, we would have granted everyone who disbelieves in the Most Gracious mansions with silver roofs, and stairs upon which they could climb.
وَلَوْلَآwalawlāAnd if notأَنanthatيَكُونَyakūna[it] becomeٱلنَّاسُl-nāsuthe peopleأُمَّةًummatana congregationوَٰحِدَةًwāḥidatansingle / one,لَّجَعَلْنَاlajaʿalnāsurely we would have madeلِمَنlimanfor (anyone) whoيَكْفُرُyakfuru[he] disbelievesبِٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِbil-raḥmāniin (the) Most Graciousلِبُيُوتِهِمْlibuyūtihimfor their mansionsسُقُفًاsuqufanroofsمِّنminofفِضَّةٍfiḍḍatinsilverوَمَعَارِجَwamaʿārijaand stairwaysعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāupon itيَظْهَرُونَyaẓharūnathey mount / climb. ﴿٣٣﴾
[43:34] Their mansions would have impressive gates, and luxurious furnishings.
وَلِبُيُوتِهِمْwalibuyūtihimAnd for their mansionsأَبْوَٰبًاabwābandoorsوَسُرُرًاwasururanand thrones / luxurious furnishingsعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāupon itيَتَّكِـُٔونَyattakiūnathey recline. ﴿٣٤﴾
[43:35] Also many ornaments. All these are the temporary materials of this lowly life. The Hereafter - at your Lord - is far better for the righteous.
وَزُخْرُفًاwazukh'rufanAnd ornaments.وَإِنwa-inAnd not (is)كُلُّkulluallذَٰلِكَdhālikathatلَمَّاlammāyetمَتَـٰعُmatāʿuan enjoyment (of)ٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayatithe life (of)ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe world.وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُwal-ākhiratuAnd the Hereafterعِندَʿindawithرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lord (is)لِلْمُتَّقِينَlil'muttaqīnafor the righteous [ones]. ﴿٣٥﴾
Invisible, Devilish, Companions*
[43:36] Anyone who disregards the message of the Most Gracious, we appoint a devil to be his constant companion.*
وَمَنwamanAnd whoeverيَعْشُyaʿshuhe forsakes / disregardsعَنʿanfromذِكْرِdhik'ri(the) remembrance / message (of)ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmāni(the) Most Gracious,نُقَيِّضْnuqayyiḍwe appoint / affixلَهُۥlahufor himشَيْطَـٰنًاshayṭānana devil,فَهُوَfahuwathen he (is)لَهُۥlahuto himقَرِينٌqarīnuna [joined] companion. ﴿٣٦﴾
*43:36-39 Each one of us has a representative of Satan as a constant companion (App. 7).
[43:37] Such companions will divert them from the path, yet make them believe that they are guided.
وَإِنَّهُمْwa-innahumAnd indeed, [they]لَيَصُدُّونَهُمْlayaṣuddūnahumsurely they divert themعَنِʿanifromٱلسَّبِيلِl-sabīlithe pathوَيَحْسَبُونَwayaḥsabūnaand they thinkأَنَّهُمannahumthat they (are)مُّهْتَدُونَmuh'tadūnathose who are guided. ﴿٣٧﴾
[43:38] When he comes before us he will say, "Oh I wish you were as far from me as the two easts.* What a miserable companion!"
حَتَّىٰٓḥattāUntilإِذَاidhāwhenجَآءَنَاjāanāhe came to usقَالَqālahe said,يَـٰلَيْتَyālayta"Oh, (I) wish (that)بَيْنِىbaynībetween meوَبَيْنَكَwabaynakaand between youبُعْدَbuʿ'da(as) far (as)ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِl-mashriqaynithe two easts."فَبِئْسَfabi'saHow miserable (is)ٱلْقَرِينُl-qarīnuthe companion! ﴿٣٨﴾
*43:38 The "easts" imply the locations of sunrise, moonrise, and the rising of heavenly bodies.
[43:39] It will not console you on that day, as transgressors, that both of you will share in the retribution.
وَلَنwalanAnd neverيَنفَعَكُمُyanfaʿakumu[it] will benefit you [all]ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawmathe Dayإِذidhwhen [in the past]ظَّلَمْتُمْẓalamtumyou [all] did wrong / transgressed,أَنَّكُمْannakumindeed you [all]فِىfī(will be) inٱلْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābithe punishmentمُشْتَرِكُونَmush'tarikūnasharers. ﴿٣٩﴾
God's Messenger of the Covenant
[43:40] Can you make the deaf hear; can you make the blind see, or those who are far astray?
أَفَأَنتَafa-antaThen can [you]تُسْمِعُtus'miʿuyou [can] make hearٱلصُّمَّl-ṣumathe deafأَوْaworتَهْدِىtahdīyou guideٱلْعُمْىَl-ʿum'yathe blindوَمَنwamanand (one) whoكَانَkānahe wasفِىfīinضَلَـٰلٍḍalālinan error / astrayمُّبِينٍmubīninclear? ﴿٤٠﴾
[43:41] Whether we let you die before it or not, we will surely requite them.
فَإِمَّاfa-immāAnd whetherنَذْهَبَنَّnadhhabannawe take away / let dieبِكَbika[of] you,فَإِنَّاfa-innāthen indeed, weمِنْهُمmin'humfrom them (are)مُّنتَقِمُونَmuntaqimūnathose who requite. ﴿٤١﴾
[43:42] Or, we may show you (the retribution) we promised for them. We are in full control over them.
أَوْawOr (if)نُرِيَنَّكَnuriyannakawe will show youٱلَّذِىalladhīthat whichوَعَدْنَـٰهُمْwaʿadnāhumwe promised them,فَإِنَّاfa-innāthen indeed, we (are)عَلَيْهِمʿalayhimover themمُّقْتَدِرُونَmuq'tadirūna[ones] powerful / (in full) control. ﴿٤٢﴾
[43:43] You shall steadfastly preach what is revealed to you; you are in the right path.*
فَٱسْتَمْسِكْfa-is'tamsikSo seek to hold fastبِٱلَّذِىٓbi-alladhīto that whichأُوحِىَūḥiyait was revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato you.إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed, you (are)عَلَىٰʿalāonصِرَٰطٍṣirāṭina pathمُّسْتَقِيمٍmus'taqīminstraight. ﴿٤٣﴾
*43:43 The sum of the gematrical value of "Rashad Khalifa" (1230) plus 43 is 1273, 19x67.
[43:44] This is a message for you and your people; all of you will be questioned.
وَإِنَّهُۥwa-innahuAnd indeed, it (is)لَذِكْرٌladhik'runsurely a reminder / messageلَّكَlakafor youوَلِقَوْمِكَwaliqawmikaand for your people,وَسَوْفَwasawfaand soonتُسْـَٔلُونَtus'alūnayou [all] will be questioned. ﴿٤٤﴾
[43:45] Check the messengers we sent before you: "Have we ever appointed any other gods - beside the Most Gracious - to be worshiped?"
وَسْـَٔلْwasalAnd inquireمَنْman(those) whomأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāwe sentمِنminfromقَبْلِكَqablikabefore youمِنminofرُّسُلِنَآrusulināour messengers.أَجَعَلْنَاajaʿalnā"Did we makeمِنminfromدُونِdūnibesidesٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmāni(the) Most Graciousءَالِهَةًālihatangodsيُعْبَدُونَyuʿ'badūnathey be worshiped?" ﴿٤٥﴾
[43:46] For example, we sent Moses with our proofs to Pharaoh and his elders, proclaiming: "I am a messenger from the Lord of the universe."
وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāwe sentمُوسَىٰmūsāMosesبِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآbiāyātināwith our signs / proofsإِلَىٰilātoفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaPharaohوَمَلَإِي۟هِۦwamala-ihiand his chiefs / elders,فَقَالَfaqālaand he said,إِنِّىinnī"Indeed, I amرَسُولُrasūlua messenger (of)رَبِّrabbi(the) Lord (of)ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīnathe worlds / universe." ﴿٤٦﴾
[43:47] When he showed them our proofs, they laughed at them.
فَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenجَآءَهُمjāahumhe came to themبِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآbiāyātināwith our signs / proofs,إِذَاidhābehold!هُمhumTheyمِّنْهَاmin'hāat themيَضْحَكُونَyaḍḥakūna[they] laugh. ﴿٤٧﴾
Moses and Pharaoh
[43:48] Every sign we showed them was bigger than the one before it. We afflicted them with the plagues, perhaps they repent.
وَمَاwamāAnd notنُرِيهِمnurīhimwe show themمِّنْminofءَايَةٍāyatina sign إِلَّاillābutهِىَhiyait (was)أَكْبَرُakbarugreaterمِنْminthanأُخْتِهَاukh'tihāits sister (*one before it),وَأَخَذْنَـٰهُمwa-akhadhnāhumand we took / afflicted them بِٱلْعَذَابِbil-ʿadhābiwith the retribution (plagues)لَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَرْجِعُونَyarjiʿūna[they] return. ﴿٤٨﴾
[43:49] They said, "O you magician, implore your Lord on our behalf, since you have an agreement with Him (to relieve this plague); we will then be guided."
وَقَالُوا۟waqālūAnd they said,يَـٰٓأَيُّهَyāayyuha"O youٱلسَّاحِرُl-sāḥiru[the] magician!ٱدْعُud'ʿuInvoke / Imploreلَنَاlanāfor usرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordبِمَاbimāby whatعَهِدَʿahidaHe had made agreementعِندَكَʿindakawith you.إِنَّنَاinnanāIndeed, we (will be)لَمُهْتَدُونَlamuh'tadūnasurely be those who are guided." ﴿٤٩﴾
[43:50] But as soon as we relieved their affliction, they reverted.
فَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenكَشَفْنَاkashafnāwe removedعَنْهُمُʿanhumufrom themٱلْعَذَابَl-ʿadhābathe punishment / afflictionإِذَاidhābehold!هُمْhumTheyيَنكُثُونَyankuthūna[they] break (their word) / revert. ﴿٥٠﴾
[43:51] Pharaoh announced to his people, "O my people, do I not possess the kingship over Egypt, and these flowing rivers belong to me? Do you not see?
وَنَادَىٰwanādāAnd [he] called outفِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuPharaohفِىfīconcerningقَوْمِهِۦqawmihihis people;قَالَqālahe said,يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmi"O my people!أَلَيْسَalaysaIs notلِىlīfor meمُلْكُmul'ku(the) kingdom (of)مِصْرَmiṣ'raEgyptوَهَـٰذِهِwahādhihiand theseٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُl-anhāru[the] riversتَجْرِىtajrīit flowsمِنminfromتَحْتِىٓtaḥtīunderneath me?أَفَلَاafalāThen do notتُبْصِرُونَtub'ṣirūnayou [all] see? ﴿٥١﴾
[43:52] "Which one is better; me or that one who is lowly and can hardly speak?
أَمْam"Or amأَنَا۠anāI (not)خَيْرٌkhayrunbetterمِّنْminthanهَـٰذَاhādhāthis,ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe one whoهُوَhuwahe (is)مَهِينٌmahīnundespicable / insignificant / lowlyوَلَاwalāand not*يَكَادُyakāduhe hardlyيُبِينُyubīnu[he] speaks clearly? ﴿٥٢﴾
[43:53] "How come he does not possess a treasure of gold; how come the angels do not accompany him?"
فَلَوْلَآfalawlā"Then why notأُلْقِىَul'qiyait was giftedعَلَيْهِʿalayhion himأَسْوِرَةٌaswiratunbraceletsمِّنminofذَهَبٍdhahabingoldأَوْaworجَآءَjāait cameمَعَهُmaʿahuwith himٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُl-malāikatuthe angelsمُقْتَرِنِينَmuq'tarinīna[ones] accompanying (him)?" ﴿٥٣﴾
[43:54] He thus fooled his people, and they obeyed him; they were wicked people.
فَٱسْتَخَفَّfa-is'takhaffaSo he sought to make light (of the situation)قَوْمَهُۥqawmahuhis people,فَأَطَاعُوهُfa-aṭāʿūhuand they obeyed him.إِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, theyكَانُوا۟kānū[they] wereقَوْمًاqawmana peopleفَـٰسِقِينَfāsiqīnadefiantly disobedient / wicked [ones]. ﴿٥٤﴾
[43:55] When they persisted in opposing us, we punished them and drowned them all.
فَلَمَّآfalammāSo whenءَاسَفُونَاāsafūnāthey angered / disappointed us,ٱنتَقَمْنَاintaqamnāwe punishedمِنْهُمْmin'hum[from] them,فَأَغْرَقْنَـٰهُمْfa-aghraqnāhumand we drowned themأَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīnaall together. ﴿٥٥﴾
[43:56] We rendered them a precedent and an example for the others.
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْfajaʿalnāhumAnd we made themسَلَفًاsalafana precedentوَمَثَلًاwamathalanand an exampleلِّلْـَٔاخِرِينَlil'ākhirīnafor the others / later generations. ﴿٥٦﴾
Jesus: Another Example
[43:57] When the son of Mary was cited as an example, your people disregarded it.
وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenضُرِبَḍuribait was presented / citedٱبْنُub'nu(the) sonمَرْيَمَmaryama(of) Mary,مَثَلًاmathalan(as) an exampleإِذَاidhābehold!قَوْمُكَqawmukaYour peopleمِنْهُmin'huabout itيَصِدُّونَyaṣiddūna[they] turned away. ﴿٥٧﴾
[43:58] They said, "Is it better to worship our gods, or to worship him?" They said this only to argue with you. Indeed, they are people who have joined the opposition.
وَقَالُوٓا۟waqālūAnd they said,ءَأَـٰلِهَتُنَاaālihatunā"Are our godsخَيْرٌkhayrunbetterأَمْamor isهُوَhuwahe?"مَاmāNotضَرَبُوهُḍarabūhuthey presented itلَكَlakato youإِلَّاillāexceptجَدَلًۢاjadalan(for) argument.بَلْbalNay,هُمْhumthey (are)قَوْمٌqawmuna peopleخَصِمُونَkhaṣimūnacontentious people / argumentative [ones]. ﴿٥٨﴾
[43:59] He was no more than a servant whom we blessed, and we sent him as an example for the Children of Israel.
إِنْinNotهُوَhuwaheإِلَّاillāexceptعَبْدٌʿabduna servant,أَنْعَمْنَاanʿamnāwe bestowed favor / blessedعَلَيْهِʿalayhiupon himوَجَعَلْنَـٰهُwajaʿalnāhuand we made himمَثَلًاmathalanan exampleلِّبَنِىٓlibanīfor (the) Children (of) إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīlaIsrael. ﴿٥٩﴾
[43:60] If we willed, we could have made you angels who colonize and reproduce on earth.
وَلَوْwalawAnd ifنَشَآءُnashāuwe willلَجَعَلْنَاlajaʿalnāsurely we could have madeمِنكُمminkumamong you [all]مَّلَـٰٓئِكَةًmalāikatanangelsفِىfīinٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthيَخْلُفُونَyakhlufūnathey succeeding (reproducing). ﴿٦٠﴾
Jesus and the End of the World*
[43:61] He is to serve as a marker for knowing the end of the world,* so you can no longer harbor any doubt about it. You shall follow Me; this is the right path.
وَإِنَّهُۥwa-innahuAnd indeed, he (is)لَعِلْمٌlaʿil'munsurely knowledge / sign / markلِّلسَّاعَةِlilssāʿatifor the Hour.فَلَاfalāSo (do) notتَمْتَرُنَّtamtarunnayou [all] be doubtfulبِهَاbihāabout it,وَٱتَّبِعُونِwa-ittabiʿūniand follow Me.هَـٰذَاhādhāThis (is)صِرَٰطٌṣirāṭun(the) pathمُّسْتَقِيمٌmus'taqīmunstraight. ﴿٦١﴾
*43:61 As detailed in Appendix 25, the End of the World is given in the Quran, and the birth date of Jesus provided one of the significant signs that the calculations are correct. We learn that the world will end in the year 2280 (19x120) after the birth of Jesus (see 47:18). Additionally, both the lunar year (1710) & the solar year (2280) are divisible by 570 (19x30), the number of years from the birth of Jesus to the birth of Muhammad. Thus, the birth date of Jesus is a marker.
[43:62] Let not the devil repel you; he is your most ardent enemy.
وَلَاwalāAnd (let) notيَصُدَّنَّكُمُyaṣuddannakumu[he] divert / repel you [all]ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُl-shayṭānuthe devil.إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, heلَكُمْlakumfor you [all]عَدُوٌّʿaduwwunan enemyمُّبِينٌmubīnunclear / ardent. ﴿٦٢﴾
[43:63] When Jesus went with the proofs, he said, "I bring to you wisdom, and to clarify some of the matters in which you dispute. You shall reverence GOD and obey me.
وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenجَآءَjāa[he] cameعِيسَىٰʿīsāJesusبِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِbil-bayinātiwith the clear proofs,قَالَqālahe said,قَدْqad"Verily,جِئْتُكُمji'tukumI came to you [all]بِٱلْحِكْمَةِbil-ḥik'matiwith the wisdomوَلِأُبَيِّنَwali-ubayyinaand that I may clarifyلَكُمlakumfor you [all]بَعْضَbaʿḍasomeٱلَّذِىalladhī(of) whichتَخْتَلِفُونَtakhtalifūnayou [all] differ / disputeفِيهِfīhiin it.فَٱتَّقُوا۟fa-ittaqūSo reverence [you all]ٱللَّهَl-lahaGodوَأَطِيعُونِwa-aṭīʿūniand obey me [you all]. ﴿٦٣﴾
[43:64] "GOD is my Lord and your Lord, you shall worship Him alone. This is the right path."
إِنَّinna"Indeed,ٱللَّهَl-lahaGod,هُوَhuwaHe (is)رَبِّىrabbīmy Lordوَرَبُّكُمْwarabbukumand your Lord,فَٱعْبُدُوهُfa-uʿ'budūhuso worship Him [you all].هَـٰذَاhādhāThis (is)صِرَٰطٌṣirāṭuna pathمُّسْتَقِيمٌmus'taqīmunstraight." ﴿٦٤﴾
[43:65] The opponents disputed among themselves. Woe to those who transgress from the retribution of a painful day.
فَٱخْتَلَفَfa-ikh'talafaBut [he] differed / disputedٱلْأَحْزَابُl-aḥzābuthe parties / opponentsمِنۢminfromبَيْنِهِمْbaynihimbetween / among them,فَوَيْلٌfawaylunso woeلِّلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those whoظَلَمُوا۟ẓalamū[they] did wrong / transgressedمِنْminfromعَذَابِʿadhābi(the) retribution (of)يَوْمٍyawmina Dayأَلِيمٍalīminpainful. ﴿٦٥﴾
[43:66] Are they waiting for the Hour (Day of Judgment) to come to them suddenly when they least expect it?
هَلْhalAreيَنظُرُونَyanẓurūnathey waitingإِلَّاillāexcept / untilٱلسَّاعَةَl-sāʿatathe Hourأَنanthatتَأْتِيَهُمtatiyahumit come to themبَغْتَةًbaghtatansuddenlyوَهُمْwahumwhile theyلَاlānotيَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūna[they] perceive? ﴿٦٦﴾
[43:67] The close friends on that day will become enemies of one another, except for the righteous.
ٱلْأَخِلَّآءُal-akhilāuThe close friends يَوْمَئِذٍۭyawma-idhinthat Day,بَعْضُهُمْbaʿḍuhumsome of themلِبَعْضٍlibaʿḍinto some othersعَدُوٌّʿaduwwun(will be) an enemyإِلَّاillāexceptٱلْمُتَّقِينَl-mutaqīnathe righteous [ones]. ﴿٦٧﴾
The Righteous
[43:68] O My servants, you will have no fear on that day, nor will you grieve.
يَـٰعِبَادِyāʿibādiO My servants!لَاlāNoخَوْفٌkhawfunfearعَلَيْكُمُʿalaykumuon you [all]ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawmathis Dayوَلَآwalāand notأَنتُمْantumyou [all]تَحْزَنُونَtaḥzanūna[you all] will grieve. ﴿٦٨﴾
[43:69] They are the ones who believed in our revelations, and were submitters.
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoءَامَنُوا۟āmanū[they] believedبِـَٔايَـٰتِنَاbiāyātināin our verses / revelationsوَكَانُوا۟wakānūand they wereمُسْلِمِينَmus'limīnasubmitters. ﴿٦٩﴾
[43:70] Enter Paradise, together with your spouses, and rejoice.
ٱدْخُلُوا۟ud'khulūEnter [you all]ٱلْجَنَّةَl-janata[the] Paradise,أَنتُمْantumyou [all]وَأَزْوَٰجُكُمْwa-azwājukumand your spousesتُحْبَرُونَtuḥ'barūna[you all] delighted." ﴿٧٠﴾
[43:71] Offered to them will be golden trays and cups, and they will find everything the hearts desire and the eyes wish for. You live therein forever.
يُطَافُyuṭāfuIt will be circulatedعَلَيْهِمʿalayhimfor themبِصِحَافٍbiṣiḥāfinof plates / bowls / traysمِّنminofذَهَبٍdhahabingoldوَأَكْوَابٍwa-akwābinand cups.وَفِيهَاwafīhāAnd thereinمَاmā(is) whatتَشْتَهِيهِtashtahīhi[it] desires itٱلْأَنفُسُl-anfusuthe soulsوَتَلَذُّwataladhuand [it] delightsٱلْأَعْيُنُl-aʿyunuthe eyes,وَأَنتُمْwa-antumand you [all]فِيهَاfīhāthereinخَـٰلِدُونَkhālidūna[ones] abiding forever. ﴿٧١﴾
[43:72] Such is the Paradise that you inherit, in return for your works.
وَتِلْكَwatil'kaAnd this (is)ٱلْجَنَّةُl-janatuthe Paradiseٱلَّتِىٓallatīwhichأُورِثْتُمُوهَاūrith'tumūhāyou [all] were bequeathed it / inherited itبِمَاbimāfor whatكُنتُمْkuntumyou [all] used toتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūna[you all] do. ﴿٧٢﴾
[43:73] You will have in it all kinds of fruits, from which you eat.
لَكُمْlakumfor you [all]فِيهَاfīhātherein (are)فَـٰكِهَةٌfākihatunfruitsكَثِيرَةٌkathīratunabundant,مِّنْهَاmin'hāfrom itتَأْكُلُونَtakulūnayou [all] will eat. ﴿٧٣﴾
[43:74] Surely, the guilty will abide in the retribution of Gehenna forever.
إِنَّinnaIndeed,ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَl-muj'rimīnathe guilty onesفِىfī(will be) inعَذَابِʿadhābi(the) retribution (of)جَهَنَّمَjahannamaGehennaخَـٰلِدُونَkhālidūna[ones] abiding forever. ﴿٧٤﴾
[43:75] Never will the retribution be commuted for them; they will be confined therein.
لَاlāNotيُفَتَّرُyufattaruit diminished / commutedعَنْهُمْʿanhumfor them,وَهُمْwahumand theyفِيهِfīhiin itمُبْلِسُونَmub'lisūnathose who despair. ﴿٧٥﴾
[43:76] It is not us who wronged them; it is they who wronged their own souls.
وَمَاwamāAnd notظَلَمْنَـٰهُمْẓalamnāhumwe wronged themوَلَـٰكِنwalākinbutكَانُوا۟kānūthey were (to)هُمُhumuthem(selves)ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīna[the] wrongdoers. ﴿٧٦﴾
[43:77] They will implore: "O Mãlek, let your Lord finish us off." He will say, "You are staying forever.
وَنَادَوْا۟wanādawAnd they called,يَـٰمَـٰلِكُyāmāliku"O Malek!لِيَقْضِliyaqḍiSo that [He] may put an endعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāto usرَبُّكَrabbukayour Lord."قَالَqālaHe said,إِنَّكُمinnakum"Indeed, you [all]مَّـٰكِثُونَmākithūnathose who (will) remain. ﴿٧٧﴾
They Hate The Truth
[43:78] "We have given you the truth, but most of you hate the truth."
لَقَدْlaqad"Certainly,جِئْنَـٰكُمji'nākumwe brought you [all]بِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqi[in] the truth,وَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnabutأَكْثَرَكُمْaktharakummost of you [all] (are)لِلْحَقِّlil'ḥaqqito the truth (are)كَـٰرِهُونَkārihūna[ones] averse / hate." ﴿٧٨﴾
[43:79] Have they schemed some scheme? We too are scheming.
أَمْamOr haveأَبْرَمُوٓا۟abramūthey determined / schemedأَمْرًاamranan affair / command?فَإِنَّاfa-innāThen indeed, we (are)مُبْرِمُونَmub'rimūnaones determined / scheming. ﴿٧٩﴾
[43:80] Do they think that we do not hear their secrets and conspiracies? Yes indeed; our messengers are with them, recording.
أَمْamOr doيَحْسَبُونَyaḥsabūnathey thinkأَنَّاannāthat weلَاlānotنَسْمَعُnasmaʿu[we] hearسِرَّهُمْsirrahumtheir secret(s)وَنَجْوَىٰهُمwanajwāhumand their private counsels / conspiracies?بَلَىٰbalāYes indeed;وَرُسُلُنَاwarusulunāand our (angels) messengers لَدَيْهِمْladayhimwith them,يَكْتُبُونَyaktubūnathey are recording. ﴿٨٠﴾
[43:81] Proclaim: "If the Most Gracious did have a son, I would still be the foremost worshiper."
قُلْqulSay,إِنin"Ifكَانَkāna[He] hadلِلرَّحْمَـٰنِlilrraḥmānithat (the) Most Graciousوَلَدٌwaladuna son.فَأَنَا۠fa-anāThen, Iأَوَّلُawwaluforemost (of)ٱلْعَـٰبِدِينَl-ʿābidīnathe worshipers." ﴿٨١﴾
[43:82] Be He glorified; He is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Lord with the great dominion, far above their claims.
سُبْحَـٰنَsub'ḥānaGlory beرَبِّrabbi(to the) Lord (of)ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth,رَبِّrabbi(the) Lord (of)ٱلْعَرْشِl-ʿarshithe Throne,عَمَّاʿammāabove whatيَصِفُونَyaṣifūnathey claim. ﴿٨٢﴾
[43:83] Let them blunder and play until they meet their day that is awaiting them.
فَذَرْهُمْfadharhumSo leave themيَخُوضُوا۟yakhūḍū(that) they converse vainly / indulge / blunderوَيَلْعَبُوا۟wayalʿabūand [they] playحَتَّىٰḥattāuntilيُلَـٰقُوا۟yulāqūthey meetيَوْمَهُمُyawmahumutheir dayٱلَّذِىalladhīwhichيُوعَدُونَyūʿadūnathey are promised. ﴿٨٣﴾
[43:84] He is the only One who is a deity in the heaven and a deity on earth. He is the Most Wise, the Omniscient.
وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He (is)ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One whoفِىfī(is) inٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe heavenإِلَـٰهٌilāhungod / deity,وَفِىwafīand inٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthإِلَـٰهٌilāhungod / deity.وَهُوَwahuwaAnd He (is)ٱلْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuMost Wise,ٱلْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmuthe Omniscient. ﴿٨٤﴾
[43:85] Most Exalted is the One who possesses all sovereignty of the heavens and the earth, and everything between them. With Him is the knowledge about the Hour (end of the world), and to Him you will be returned.
وَتَبَارَكَwatabārakaAnd He is Blessed / Exaltedٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One whoلَهُۥlahuto Himمُلْكُmul'ku(belongs the) dominion / sovereignty (of)ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَمَاwamāand whatever (is)بَيْنَهُمَاbaynahumābetween both of themوَعِندَهُۥwaʿindahuand with Him (is)عِلْمُʿil'mu(the) knowledge (of)ٱلسَّاعَةِl-sāʿatithe Hour,وَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Himتُرْجَعُونَtur'jaʿūnayou [all] will return. ﴿٨٥﴾
[43:86] None of those whom they idolize beside Him possess any power to intercede, unless their intercession coincides with the truth, and they fully know.
وَلَاwalāAnd notيَمْلِكُyamliku[it] have powerٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whomيَدْعُونَyadʿūnathey invoke / imploreمِنminfromدُونِهِdūnihibesides Him (for)ٱلشَّفَـٰعَةَl-shafāʿatathe intercession;إِلَّاillāexceptمَنmanwhoشَهِدَshahidahe testifiedبِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqito the truth,وَهُمْwahumand theyيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūna[they] know. ﴿٨٦﴾
[43:87] If you asked them who created them, they would say, "GOD." Why then did they deviate?
وَلَئِنwala-inAnd surely ifسَأَلْتَهُمsa-altahumyou asked themمَّنْmanwhoخَلَقَهُمْkhalaqahum[he] created them,لَيَقُولُنَّlayaqūlunnasurely they will say,ٱللَّهُl-lahu"God."فَأَنَّىٰfa-annāThen how (could)يُؤْفَكُونَyu'fakūnathey turn away / deviate? ﴿٨٧﴾
[43:88] It will be proclaimed: "O my Lord, these people do not believe."
وَقِيلِهِۦwaqīlihiAnd his saying,يَـٰرَبِّyārabbi"O my Lord!إِنَّinnaIndeed,هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāithese (are)قَوْمٌqawmuna people (who)لَّاlā(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnathey believe." ﴿٨٨﴾
[43:89] You shall disregard them and say, "Peace;" they will surely find out.
فَٱصْفَحْfa-iṣ'faḥSo turn awayعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themوَقُلْwaquland say,سَلَـٰمٌsalāmun"Peace."فَسَوْفَfasawfaBut soonيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnathey (will) know. ﴿٨٩﴾
