Sura 58: Al-Mujaadalah (The Debate) - Quran Inspector

In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

بِسْمِbis'miIn (the) nameٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) God,ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmāniMost Gracious,ٱلرَّحِيمِl-raḥīmiMost Merciful.

[58:1] GOD has heard the woman who debated with you about her husband, and complained to GOD. GOD heard everything the two of you discussed. GOD is Hearer, Seer.

قَدْqadIndeed,سَمِعَsamiʿa[He] heardٱللَّهُl-lahuGodقَوْلَqawla(the) speech / saying a wordٱلَّتِىallatīshe whoتُجَـٰدِلُكَtujādilukashe debated with youفِىfīconcerningزَوْجِهَاzawjihāher husbandوَتَشْتَكِىٓwatashtakīand she complainedإِلَىilātoٱللَّهِl-lahiGod.وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd GodيَسْمَعُyasmaʿuHe hearsتَحَاوُرَكُمَآtaḥāwurakumāyou both discuss. إِنَّinnaIndeed,ٱللَّهَl-lahaGod (is)سَمِيعٌۢsamīʿunHearer,بَصِيرٌbaṣīrunSeer. ﴿١﴾

[58:2] Those among you who estrange their wives (by declaring them as forbidden in sex) as their mothers know full well that they are not their mothers.* Their mothers are the women who gave birth to them. Indeed, they are committing a blasphemy and a falsehood. GOD is Pardoner, Forgiver.

ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoيُظَـٰهِرُونَyuẓāhirūnathey declare Zihar (*make forbidden in sex)مِنكُمminkumamong you [all]مِّنminfromنِّسَآئِهِمnisāihimtheir wives,مَّاmānotهُنَّhunnatheyأُمَّهَـٰتِهِمْummahātihimtheir mothers.إِنْinNotأُمَّهَـٰتُهُمْummahātuhumtheir mothersإِلَّاillāexceptٱلَّـٰٓـِٔىallāīthose whoوَلَدْنَهُمْwaladnahumthey gave birth to themوَإِنَّهُمْwa-innahumAnd indeed, theyلَيَقُولُونَlayaqūlūna[they] surely sayمُنكَرًاmunkaranan evil / blasphemyمِّنَminaofٱلْقَوْلِl-qawlithe wordوَزُورًاwazūranand a falsehood.وَإِنَّwa-innaBut indeed,ٱللَّهَl-lahaGod (is)لَعَفُوٌّlaʿafuwwunsurely Pardoner,غَفُورٌghafūrunForgiver. ﴿٢﴾

*58:2 Estranging a wife by declaring that she is like one's mother was an ancient tradition in Arabia. This is the only sura where the word "Allah" occurs in every verse.

[58:3] Those who estrange their wives in this manner, then reconcile thereafter, shall atone by freeing a slave before resuming their sexual relations. This is to enlighten you. GOD is Cognizant of everything you do.

وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoيُظَـٰهِرُونَyuẓāhirūnathey declare Zihar (*make forbidden in sex)مِنminfromنِّسَآئِهِمْnisāihimtheir wivesثُمَّthummathenيَعُودُونَyaʿūdūna[they] return / take back (reconcile) لِمَاlimāregarding whatقَالُوا۟qālūthey said,فَتَحْرِيرُfataḥrīruthen freeing (of)رَقَبَةٍraqabatina [female] slaveمِّنminfromقَبْلِqablibeforeأَنanthatيَتَمَآسَّاyatamāssāthey both touch each other / sexual relations.ذَٰلِكُمْdhālikumThat [you all]تُوعَظُونَtūʿaẓūnayou [all] are admonished / advised / enlightenedبِهِۦbihitherein.وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd God (is)بِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou [all] doخَبِيرٌkhabīrunCognizant. ﴿٣﴾

[58:4] If you cannot find a slave to free, you shall fast two consecutive months before resuming sexual relations. If you cannot fast, then you shall feed sixty poor people. You shall believe in GOD and His messenger. These are GOD's laws. The disbelievers have incurred a painful retribution.

فَمَنfamanThen whoeverلَّمْlamnotيَجِدْyajidhe finds (a slave),فَصِيَامُfaṣiyāmuthen fastingشَهْرَيْنِshahrayni(for) two monthsمُتَتَابِعَيْنِmutatābiʿayniboth consecutivelyمِنminfromقَبْلِqablibeforeأَنanthatيَتَمَآسَّاyatamāssāthey both touch each other / sexual relations.فَمَنfamanBut (he) whoلَّمْlamnotيَسْتَطِعْyastaṭiʿhe is able (to fast)فَإِطْعَامُfa-iṭ'ʿāmuthen feeding (of)سِتِّينَsittīnasixtyمِسْكِينًاmis'kīnanneedy one(s).ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThatلِتُؤْمِنُوا۟litu'minūso that you [all] may believeبِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin Godوَرَسُولِهِۦwarasūlihiand His messenger,وَتِلْكَwatil'kaand these (are)حُدُودُḥudūdu(the) limitsٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) God,وَلِلْكَـٰفِرِينَwalil'kāfirīnaand for the disbelievers (is)عَذَابٌʿadhābuna retributionأَلِيمٌalīmunpainful. ﴿٤﴾

[58:5] Surely, those who fight GOD and His messenger are committed to defeat, like their previous counterparts were committed to defeat. We have sent down clear proofs, and the rejectors have incurred a shameful retribution.

إِنَّinnaIndeed,ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيُحَآدُّونَyuḥāddūnathey oppose / fightٱللَّهَl-lahaGodوَرَسُولَهُۥwarasūlahuand His messengerكُبِتُوا۟kubitūthey were laid down and humbled / defeatedكَمَاkamājust asكُبِتَkubita[it] were laid down and humbled / defeatedٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathoseمِنminfromقَبْلِهِمْqablihimbefore them.وَقَدْwaqadAnd certainlyأَنزَلْنَآanzalnāwe sent downءَايَـٰتٍۭāyātinproofsبَيِّنَـٰتٍbayyinātinclear.وَلِلْكَـٰفِرِينَwalil'kāfirīnaAnd for the disbelievers (is)عَذَابٌʿadhābuna retributionمُّهِينٌmuhīnunhumiliating / shameful. ﴿٥﴾

[58:6] The day will come when GOD will resurrect them all, then inform them of everything they had done. GOD has recorded everything, while they have forgotten it. GOD witnesses all things.

يَوْمَyawma(On the) Dayيَبْعَثُهُمُyabʿathuhumu[He] will resurrect themٱللَّهُl-lahuGodجَمِيعًاjamīʿanallفَيُنَبِّئُهُمfayunabbi-uhumand He will inform themبِمَاbimāof whatعَمِلُوٓا۟ʿamilūthey did.أَحْصَىٰهُaḥṣāhu[He] counted itٱللَّهُl-lahuGodوَنَسُوهُwanasūhuwhile they forgot it.وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd God (is)عَلَىٰʿalāoverكُلِّkulliallشَىْءٍshayinthing(s)شَهِيدٌshahīduna Witness. ﴿٦﴾

[58:7] Do you not realize that GOD knows everything in the heavens and everything on earth? No three people can conspire secretly without Him being their fourth, nor five without Him being the sixth, nor less than that, nor more, without Him being there with them wherever they may be. Then, on the Day of Resurrection, He will inform them of everything they had done. GOD is fully aware of all things.

أَلَمْalamDo notتَرَtarayou seeأَنَّannathatٱللَّهَl-lahaGodيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuHe knowsمَاmāwhatever (is)فِىfīinٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَاwamāand whatever (is)فِىfīinٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth?مَاmāNotيَكُونُyakūnuthere isمِنminanyنَّجْوَىٰnajwāsecret counsel (of)ثَلَـٰثَةٍthalāthatinthreeإِلَّاillābutهُوَhuwaHe (is)رَابِعُهُمْrābiʿuhum(the) fourth of them,وَلَاwalāand notخَمْسَةٍkhamsatinfiveإِلَّاillābutهُوَhuwaHe (is)سَادِسُهُمْsādisuhum(the) sixth of them,وَلَآwalāand notأَدْنَىٰadnālesser / fewerمِنminthanذَٰلِكَdhālikathatوَلَآwalāand notأَكْثَرَaktharamoreإِلَّاillābutهُوَhuwaHe (is)مَعَهُمْmaʿahumwith themأَيْنَaynawhere*مَاmāthat (*wherever)كَانُوا۟kānūthey were.ثُمَّthummaThenيُنَبِّئُهُمyunabbi-uhumHe will inform themبِمَاbimāof whatعَمِلُوا۟ʿamilūthey didيَوْمَyawma(on the) Day (of)ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmatithe Resurrection.إِنَّinnaIndeed,ٱللَّهَl-lahaGod (is)بِكُلِّbikulliof everyشَىْءٍshayinthingعَلِيمٌʿalīmunAll-Knower. ﴿٧﴾

[58:8] Have you noted those who were enjoined from conspiring secretly, then insist on conspiring? They conspire to commit sin, transgression, and disobedience of the messenger. When they come to you, they greet you with a greeting other than that decreed by GOD. They say inside themselves, "GOD will not punish us for our utterances." Their only requital is Gehenna, wherein they burn; what a miserable destiny.

أَلَمْalamDo notتَرَtarayou seeإِلَىilātoٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoنُهُوا۟nuhū[they] were forbiddenعَنِʿanifromٱلنَّجْوَىٰl-najwā[the] secret counsels,ثُمَّthummathenيَعُودُونَyaʿūdūnathey returnلِمَاlimāto whatنُهُوا۟nuhūthey were forbiddenعَنْهُʿanhufrom it,وَيَتَنَـٰجَوْنَwayatanājawnaand they hold secret counselsبِٱلْإِثْمِbil-ith'miin the sin (*sinfully)وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِwal-ʿud'wāniand [the] transgression / hostilityوَمَعْصِيَتِwamaʿṣiyatiand disobedienceٱلرَّسُولِl-rasūli(to) the messenger?وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenجَآءُوكَjāūkathey came to you,حَيَّوْكَḥayyawkathey greeted youبِمَاbimāwith whatلَمْlamnotيُحَيِّكَyuḥayyika[He] greets youبِهِbihitherewithٱللَّهُl-lahuGod,وَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaand they sayفِىٓfīamongأَنفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselves,لَوْلَاlawlā"Why notيُعَذِّبُنَاyuʿadhibunā[He] punishes usٱللَّهُl-lahuGodبِمَاbimāfor whatنَقُولُnaqūluwe say?"حَسْبُهُمْḥasbuhumSufficient for them (is)جَهَنَّمُjahannamuGehenna,يَصْلَوْنَهَاyaṣlawnahāthey will burn thereinفَبِئْسَfabi'saand miserableٱلْمَصِيرُl-maṣīruthe destination / destiny. ﴿٨﴾

[58:9] O you who believe, if you have to confer secretly, you shall not confer to commit sin, transgression, and to disobey the messenger. You shall confer to work righteousness and piety. You shall reverence GOD, before whom you will be summoned.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُوٓا۟āmanū[they] believed!إِذَاidhāWhenتَنَـٰجَيْتُمْtanājaytumyou [all] held secret counselفَلَاfalāthen (do) notتَتَنَـٰجَوْا۟tatanājaw[you all] hold secret counselبِٱلْإِثْمِbil-ith'miin the sin (*sinfully)وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِwal-ʿud'wāniand [the] transgression / hostilityوَمَعْصِيَتِwamaʿṣiyatiand disobedienceٱلرَّسُولِl-rasūli(to) the messenger,وَتَنَـٰجَوْا۟watanājawbut [you all] hold secret counselبِٱلْبِرِّbil-birifor [the] righteousnessوَٱلتَّقْوَىٰwal-taqwāand [the] pietyوَٱتَّقُوا۟wa-ittaqūand reverence [you all]ٱللَّهَl-lahaGod,ٱلَّذِىٓalladhīthe One who,إِلَيْهِilayhito Himتُحْشَرُونَtuḥ'sharūnayou [all] will be summoned. ﴿٩﴾

[58:10] Secret conspiracy is the devil's idea, through which he seeks to hurt those who believed. However, he cannot hurt them against GOD's will. In GOD the believers shall trust.

إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyٱلنَّجْوَىٰl-najwāthe secret counselsمِنَmina(are) fromٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِl-shayṭānithe devilلِيَحْزُنَliyaḥzunathat he may cause griefٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُوا۟āmanū[they] believed,وَلَيْسَwalaysabut notبِضَآرِّهِمْbiḍārrihimever harm themشَيْـًٔاshayan(in) anythingإِلَّاillāexceptبِإِذْنِbi-idh'niby (the) permission (of)ٱللَّهِl-lahiGod.وَعَلَىwaʿalāAnd uponٱللَّهِl-lahiGodفَلْيَتَوَكَّلِfalyatawakkali[so] let [him] rely / put [his] trustٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَl-mu'minūnathe believers. ﴿١٠﴾

[58:11] O you who believe, if you are told, "Please make room," you shall make room for each other to sit. GOD will then make room for you. If you are asked to get up and move, get up and move. GOD raises those among you who believe, and those who acquire knowledge to higher ranks. GOD is fully Cognizant of everything you do.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُوٓا۟āmanū[they] believed!إِذَاidhāWhenقِيلَqīlait was saidلَكُمْlakumto you [all]تَفَسَّحُوا۟tafassaḥū"You [all] make room,"فِىfīinٱلْمَجَـٰلِسِl-majālisithe assemblies / seatsفَٱفْسَحُوا۟fa-if'saḥūthen make room [you all],يَفْسَحِyafsaḥi[He] will make roomٱللَّهُl-lahuGodلَكُمْlakumfor you [all].وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenقِيلَqīlait was saidٱنشُزُوا۟unshuzū"Rise up / move [you all],"فَٱنشُزُوا۟fa-unshuzūthen rise up / move [you all];يَرْفَعِyarfaʿi[He] raisesٱللَّهُl-lahuGodٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُوا۟āmanū[they] believedمِنكُمْminkumamong you [all]وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoأُوتُوا۟ūtūthey were givenٱلْعِلْمَl-ʿil'mathe knowledge,دَرَجَـٰتٍdarajātin(in) ranks.وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd God (is)بِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou [all] doخَبِيرٌkhabīrunCognizant. ﴿١١﴾

[58:12] O you who believe, when you wish to confer with the messenger, you shall offer a charity (to the poor) before you do so. This is better for you, and purer. If you cannot afford it, then GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُوٓا۟āmanū[they] believed!إِذَاidhāWhenنَـٰجَيْتُمُnājaytumuyou [all] privately consultedٱلرَّسُولَl-rasūlathe messenger,فَقَدِّمُوا۟faqaddimūthen offer [you all]بَيْنَbayna between / before*يَدَىْyadayone's hands (*before)نَجْوَىٰكُمْnajwākumyour private consultation,صَدَقَةًṣadaqatana charity.ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat (is)خَيْرٌkhayrunbetterلَّكُمْlakumfor you [all]وَأَطْهَرُwa-aṭharuand purer.فَإِنfa-inBut ifلَّمْlamnotتَجِدُوا۟tajidūyou [all] find / obtain (afford),فَإِنَّfa-innathen indeed,ٱللَّهَl-lahaGod (is)غَفُورٌghafūrunForgiver,رَّحِيمٌraḥīmunMerciful. ﴿١٢﴾

[58:13] If you failed to give to charity before conferring, then repented thereafter, GOD accepts your repentance. You shall observe the contact prayers (Salat), give the obligatory charity (Zakat), and obey GOD and His messenger. GOD is fully Cognizant of everything you do.

ءَأَشْفَقْتُمْa-ashfaqtumIf you [all] concerned / apprehensive (failed)أَنantoتُقَدِّمُوا۟tuqaddimū[you all] offer / send forth / anticipateبَيْنَbayna between / before*يَدَىْyadayone's hands (*before)نَجْوَىٰكُمْnajwākumyour private consultationصَدَقَـٰتٍṣadaqātincharities,فَإِذْfa-idhthen ifلَمْlam notتَفْعَلُوا۟tafʿalūyou [all] (can) do,وَتَابَwatāba and [He] forgave / redeemedٱللَّهُl-lahuGodعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykum[upon] you [all].فَأَقِيمُوا۟fa-aqīmūThen observe [you all]ٱلصَّلَوٰةَl-ṣalatathe Contact Prayer (Salat)وَءَاتُوا۟waātūand give [you all]ٱلزَّكَوٰةَl-zakatathe obligatory charity (Zakat),وَأَطِيعُوا۟wa-aṭīʿūand obey [you all]ٱللَّهَl-lahaGodوَرَسُولَهُۥwarasūlahuand His messenger.وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd God (is)خَبِيرٌۢkhabīrunCognizantبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou [all] do. ﴿١٣﴾

[58:14] Have you noted those who befriended people with whom GOD is angry? They neither belong with you, nor with them. They deliberately swear lies!

أَلَمْalamDo notتَرَtarayou seeإِلَىilātoٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoتَوَلَّوْا۟tawallawthey took as allies / befriendedقَوْمًاqawmana people,غَضِبَghaḍibawrath (of)ٱللَّهُl-lahuGod (is)عَلَيْهِمʿalayhimupon them?مَّاmāNotهُمhumtheyمِّنكُمْminkumof you [all]وَلَاwalāand notمِنْهُمْmin'humof them,وَيَحْلِفُونَwayaḥlifūnaand they swearعَلَىʿalātoٱلْكَذِبِl-kadhibithe lieوَهُمْwahumwhile theyيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūna[they] know. ﴿١٤﴾

[58:15] GOD has prepared for them a severe retribution. Miserable indeed is what they used to do.

أَعَدَّaʿadda[He] preparedٱللَّهُl-lahuGodلَهُمْlahumfor themعَذَابًاʿadhābana retributionشَدِيدًاshadīdansevere.إِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, theyسَآءَsāaevil (is)مَاmāwhatكَانُوا۟kānūthey used toيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūna[they] do. ﴿١٥﴾

[58:16] They used their oaths as a means of repelling from the path of GOD. Consequently, they have incurred a shameful retribution.

ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ittakhadhūThey tookأَيْمَـٰنَهُمْaymānahumtheir oathsجُنَّةًjunnatan(as) a cover,فَصَدُّوا۟faṣaddūso they hindered / repelledعَنʿanfromسَبِيلِsabīli(the) path (of)ٱللَّهِl-lahiGod,فَلَهُمْfalahumso for them (is)عَذَابٌʿadhābuna retributionمُّهِينٌmuhīnunhumiliating / shameful. ﴿١٦﴾

[58:17] Neither their money, nor their children will help them against GOD. They have incurred the hellfire, wherein they abide forever.

لَّنlanNeverتُغْنِىَtugh'niyait will avail / helpعَنْهُمْʿanhum[for] themأَمْوَٰلُهُمْamwāluhumtheir wealthوَلَآwalāand notأَوْلَـٰدُهُمawlāduhumtheir childrenمِّنَminaagainstٱللَّهِl-lahiGodشَيْـًٔاshayan(in) anything.أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThoseأَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(will be) companions (of)ٱلنَّارِl-nārithe Fire,هُمْhumthey,فِيهَاfīhāin itخَـٰلِدُونَkhālidūna[ones] abiding forever. ﴿١٧﴾

[58:18] The Day will come when GOD resurrects them all. They will swear to Him then, just as they swear to you now, thinking that they really are right! Indeed, they are the real liars.

يَوْمَyawma(On the) Dayيَبْعَثُهُمُyabʿathuhumu[He] will resurrect themٱللَّهُl-lahuGod جَمِيعًاjamīʿanall,فَيَحْلِفُونَfayaḥlifūnathen they will swearلَهُۥlahuto Himكَمَاkamāasيَحْلِفُونَyaḥlifūnathey swearلَكُمْlakumto you [all].وَيَحْسَبُونَwayaḥsabūnaAnd they thinkأَنَّهُمْannahumthat they (are)عَلَىٰʿalāonشَىْءٍshayinanything.أَلَآalāNo doubt!إِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, [they]هُمُhumuthey (are)ٱلْكَـٰذِبُونَl-kādhibūnathe liars. ﴿١٨﴾

[58:19] The devil has possessed them, and has caused them to disregard GOD's message. These are the party of the devil. Absolutely, the party of the devil are the losers.

ٱسْتَحْوَذَis'taḥwadha[He] gained mastery / possessedعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuover themٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُl-shayṭānuthe devil,فَأَنسَىٰهُمْfa-ansāhumso he made them forgetذِكْرَdhik'ra(the) remembrance / messageٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) God.أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose (are)حِزْبُḥiz'bu(the) party (of)ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِl-shayṭānithe devil.أَلَآalāNo doubt!إِنَّinnaIndeed,حِزْبَḥiz'ba(the) party (of)ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِl-shayṭānithe devil,هُمُhumutheyٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَl-khāsirūnathe losers. ﴿١٩﴾

[58:20] Surely, those who oppose GOD and His messenger will be with the lowliest.

إِنَّinnaIndeed,ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيُحَآدُّونَyuḥāddūnathey opposeٱللَّهَl-lahaGodوَرَسُولَهُۥٓwarasūlahuand His messenger,أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikathoseفِىfī(will be) amongٱلْأَذَلِّينَl-adhalīnathe most humiliated / lowliest [ones]. ﴿٢٠﴾

[58:21] GOD has decreed: "I and My messengers will most assuredly win." GOD is Powerful, Almighty.

كَتَبَkataba[He] decreed,ٱللَّهُl-lahuGodلَأَغْلِبَنَّla-aghlibanna"Certainly, [I] will triumphأَنَا۠anāIوَرُسُلِىٓwarusulīand My messengers."إِنَّinnaIndeed,ٱللَّهَl-lahaGod (is)قَوِىٌّqawiyyunPowerful,عَزِيزٌʿazīzunAlmighty. ﴿٢١﴾

[58:22] You will not find people who believe in GOD and the Last Day befriending those who oppose GOD and His messenger, even if they were their parents, or their children, or their siblings, or their tribe. For these, He decrees faith into their hearts, and supports them with inspiration from Him, and admits them into gardens with flowing streams wherein they abide forever. GOD is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. These are the party of GOD. Most assuredly, GOD's party are the winners.

لَّاlāNotتَجِدُtajiduyou will findقَوْمًاqawmana peopleيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnathey believeبِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin Godوَٱلْيَوْمِwal-yawmiand the Dayٱلْـَٔاخِرِl-ākhirithe Lastيُوَآدُّونَyuwāddūna[they] loving / befriendingمَنْman(those) whoحَآدَّḥādda[he] opposedٱللَّهَl-lahaGodوَرَسُولَهُۥwarasūlahuand His messengerوَلَوْwalaweven ifكَانُوٓا۟kānūthey wereءَابَآءَهُمْābāahumtheir fathers / parentsأَوْaworأَبْنَآءَهُمْabnāahumtheir childrenأَوْaworإِخْوَٰنَهُمْikh'wānahumtheir brothers / siblingsأَوْaworعَشِيرَتَهُمْʿashīratahumtheir companions / tribe.أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThoseكَتَبَkatabaHe decreedفِىfīinقُلُوبِهِمُqulūbihimutheir heartsٱلْإِيمَـٰنَl-īmānathe faithوَأَيَّدَهُمwa-ayyadahumand He supported themبِرُوحٍbirūḥinwith inspirationمِّنْهُmin'hufrom Him.وَيُدْخِلُهُمْwayud'khiluhumAnd He will admit themجَنَّـٰتٍjannātin(to) gardens,تَجْرِىtajrīit flowsمِنminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath itٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُl-anhāruthe rivers / streams,خَـٰلِدِينَkhālidīna[ones] abiding foreverفِيهَاfīhāin it.رَضِىَraḍiya[He] (will be) pleasedٱللَّهُl-lahuGodعَنْهُمْʿanhumwith them,وَرَضُوا۟waraḍūand they (will be) pleasedعَنْهُʿanhuwith Him.أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose (are)حِزْبُḥiz'bu(the) partyٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) God.أَلَآalāNo doubt!إِنَّinnaIndeed,حِزْبَḥiz'ba(the) partyٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) God,هُمُhumuthey (are)ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَl-muf'liḥūnathe successful ones / winners. ﴿٢٢﴾
