In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
بِسْمِbis'miIn (the) nameٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) God,ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmāniMost Gracious,ٱلرَّحِيمِl-raḥīmiMost Merciful.
[56:1] When the inevitable comes to pass.
إِذَاidhāWhen [in the future]وَقَعَتِwaqaʿati[it] passed / fulfilledٱلْوَاقِعَةُl-wāqiʿatuthe inevitable event. ﴿١﴾
[56:2] Nothing can stop it from happening.
لَيْسَlaysaNotلِوَقْعَتِهَاliwaqʿatihāfor its happening / occurrenceكَاذِبَةٌkādhibatuna denial. ﴿٢﴾
[56:3] It will lower some, and raise others.
خَافِضَةٌkhāfiḍatun(It) lowers (some),رَّافِعَةٌrāfiʿatun(and) exalts (others). ﴿٣﴾
[56:4] The earth will be shaken up.
إِذَاidhāWhen [in the future]رُجَّتِrujjati[it] (will be) shakenٱلْأَرْضُl-arḍuthe earthرَجًّاrajjan(with) a violent shaking. ﴿٤﴾
[56:5] The mountains will be wiped out.
وَبُسَّتِwabussatiAnd [it] (will be) crumbled / shattered to dustٱلْجِبَالُl-jibāluthe mountainsبَسًّاbassanground to powder. ﴿٥﴾
[56:6] As if they never existed.
فَكَانَتْfakānatSo it becameهَبَآءًhabāandust particlesمُّنۢبَثًّاmunbathandispersing. ﴿٦﴾
[56:7] You will be stratified into three kinds.
وَكُنتُمْwakuntumAnd you [all] becameأَزْوَٰجًاazwājankindsثَلَـٰثَةًthalāthatanthree. ﴿٧﴾
[56:8] Those who deserved bliss will be in bliss.
فَأَصْحَـٰبُfa-aṣḥābuThen (the) companions (of)ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِl-maymanatithe blessed / right,مَآmāwhat (are)أَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(the) companions (of)ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِl-maymanatithe blessed / right? ﴿٨﴾
[56:9] Those who deserved misery will be in misery.
وَأَصْحَـٰبُwa-aṣḥābuAnd (the) companions (of)ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِl-mashamatithe misery,مَآmāwhat (are)أَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(the) companions (of)ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِl-mashamatithe misery? ﴿٩﴾
[56:10] Then there is the elite of the elite.
وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَwal-sābiqūnaAnd the foremost / elite [ones] (of)ٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَl-sābiqūnathe foremost / elite [ones], ﴿١٠﴾
[56:11] They are those who will be closest (to GOD).
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose (are)ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَl-muqarabūnathe closest ones. ﴿١١﴾
[56:12] In the gardens of bliss.
فِىfīInجَنَّـٰتِjannātigardens (of)ٱلنَّعِيمِl-naʿīmi[the] pleasure / bliss. ﴿١٢﴾
[56:13] Many from the first generations.*
ثُلَّةٌthullatunMany (people)مِّنَminafromٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīnathe former ones / first generation. ﴿١٣﴾
*56:13-40 People who believe and nourish their souls through worshiping God alone are destined for the High Heaven. The contemporary followers of each messenger invariably suffer persecution from the traditionalists and adherents of the corrupted religion. Thus, they have a special place reserved for them in the High Heaven. All people who die before the age of 40 go to the Lower Heaven, at least (46:15).
[56:14] Few from the later generations.
وَقَلِيلٌwaqalīlunAnd fewمِّنَminafromٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَl-ākhirīnathe later ones / later generations. ﴿١٤﴾
[56:15] On luxurious furnishings.
عَلَىٰʿalāOnسُرُرٍsururinthrones / furnishingsمَّوْضُونَةٍmawḍūnatindecorated / luxurious. ﴿١٥﴾
[56:16] Enjoying everything, they will be neighbors.
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَmuttakiīnaThose reclining / enjoying,عَلَيْهَاʿalayhāon itمُتَقَـٰبِلِينَmutaqābilīnaones facing each other / neighbors. ﴿١٦﴾
[56:17] Serving them will be immortal servants.
يَطُوفُyaṭūfu[It] runs between / walks about / servingعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimamong themوِلْدَٰنٌwil'dānunsons / boys / servantsمُّخَلَّدُونَmukhalladūnaones who never age / immortal ones. ﴿١٧﴾
[56:18] With cups, pitchers and pure drinks.
بِأَكْوَابٍbi-akwābinWith cupsوَأَبَارِيقَwa-abārīqaand jugs / pitchersوَكَأْسٍwakasinand a cup (filled)مِّنminfromمَّعِينٍmaʿīnina flowing stream. ﴿١٨﴾
[56:19] They never run out, nor do they get bored.
لَّاlāNotيُصَدَّعُونَyuṣaddaʿūnathey will suffer a headache (hangover)عَنْهَاʿanhāfrom itوَلَاwalāand notيُنزِفُونَyunzifūna[they] will be exhausted / deprived of intellectual faculties. ﴿١٩﴾
[56:20] Fruits of their choice.
وَفَـٰكِهَةٍwafākihatinAnd fruitsمِّمَّاmimmāof whatيَتَخَيَّرُونَyatakhayyarūnathey select. ﴿٢٠﴾
[56:21] Meat of birds that they desire.
وَلَحْمِwalaḥmiAnd meat (of)طَيْرٍṭayrinbirdsمِّمَّاmimmāof whatيَشْتَهُونَyashtahūnathey desire. ﴿٢١﴾
[56:22] Beautiful mates.
وَحُورٌwaḥūrunAnd fair ones / beautiful ones / whitened*عِينٌʿīnunlovely / wide-eyed / large eyes (*beautiful mates). ﴿٢٢﴾
[56:23] Like protected pearls.
كَأَمْثَـٰلِka-amthāliLikeٱللُّؤْلُؤِl-lu'lu-i[the] pearlsٱلْمَكْنُونِl-maknūni[the] ones hidden / preserved / protected. ﴿٢٣﴾
[56:24] Rewards for their works.
جَزَآءًۢjazāanA rewardبِمَاbimāfor whatكَانُوا۟kānūthey used toيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūna[they] do. ﴿٢٤﴾
[56:25] They never hear any nonsense therein, nor sinful utterances.
لَاlāNotيَسْمَعُونَyasmaʿūnathey will hearفِيهَاfīhāthereinلَغْوًاlaghwanvain talk / nonsenseوَلَاwalāand notتَأْثِيمًاtathīmansinful (speech). ﴿٢٥﴾
[56:26] Only the utterance: "Peace, peace."
إِلَّاillāExceptقِيلًاqīlana saying,سَلَـٰمًاsalāman"Peace,سَلَـٰمًاsalāmanPeace." ﴿٢٦﴾
The Lower Heaven
[56:27] Those of the right side, will be on the right side.
وَأَصْحَـٰبُwa-aṣḥābuAnd (the) companions (of)ٱلْيَمِينِl-yamīnithe right,مَآmāwhat (are)أَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(the) companions (of)ٱلْيَمِينِl-yamīnithe right? ﴿٢٧﴾
[56:28] In lush orchards.
فِىfīAmongسِدْرٍsid'rinlote trees / orchardsمَّخْضُودٍmakhḍūdinthornless / lush. ﴿٢٨﴾
[56:29] Fragrant fruits.
وَطَلْحٍwaṭalḥinAnd banana trees / fragrant fruits مَّنضُودٍmanḍūdinlayered / fruit laden. ﴿٢٩﴾
[56:30] Extended shade.
وَظِلٍّwaẓillinAnd shadeمَّمْدُودٍmamdūdinextended. ﴿٣٠﴾
[56:31] Abundant water.
وَمَآءٍwamāinAnd waterمَّسْكُوبٍmaskūbinpoured forth / ever flowing (abundant). ﴿٣١﴾
[56:32] Many fruits.
وَفَـٰكِهَةٍwafākihatinAnd fruitsكَثِيرَةٍkathīratinabundant / many. ﴿٣٢﴾
[56:33] Never ending; never forbidden.
لَّاlāNotمَقْطُوعَةٍmaqṭūʿatincut off / limitedوَلَاwalāand notمَمْنُوعَةٍmamnūʿatinprevented / forbidden. ﴿٣٣﴾
[56:34] Luxurious furnishings.
وَفُرُشٍwafurushinAnd (on) furnishingsمَّرْفُوعَةٍmarfūʿatinraised (luxurious). ﴿٣٤﴾
[56:35] We create for them mates.
إِنَّآinnāIndeed, weأَنشَأْنَـٰهُنَّanshanāhunna[we] produced / created (for) themإِنشَآءًinshāana creation. ﴿٣٥﴾
[56:36] Never previously touched.
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُنَّfajaʿalnāhunnaAnd we made themأَبْكَارًاabkāranvirgins. ﴿٣٦﴾
[56:37] Perfectly matched.
عُرُبًاʿurubanDevoted / loving,أَتْرَابًاatrābanequally aged / perfectly matched / suitable. ﴿٣٧﴾
[56:38] For those on the right side.
لِّأَصْحَـٰبِli-aṣḥābiFor (the) companions (of)ٱلْيَمِينِl-yamīnithe right. ﴿٣٨﴾
[56:39] Many from the early generations.
ثُلَّةٌthullatunMany (people)مِّنَminafromٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīnathe former ones / early generations, ﴿٣٩﴾
[56:40] Many from the later generations.*
وَثُلَّةٌwathullatunand many (people)مِّنَminafromٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَl-ākhirīnathe later ones / later generations. ﴿٤٠﴾
Hell
[56:41] Those of the left, will be on the left.
وَأَصْحَـٰبُwa-aṣḥābuAnd (the) companions (of)ٱلشِّمَالِl-shimālithe left,مَآmāwhat (are)أَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(the) companions (of)ٱلشِّمَالِl-shimālithe left? ﴿٤١﴾
[56:42] In misery and inferno.
فِىfīInسَمُومٍsamūminscorching / blazingوَحَمِيمٍwaḥamīminand inferno, ﴿٤٢﴾
[56:43] Even their shade is hot.
وَظِلٍّwaẓillinAnd a shadeمِّنminof (which)يَحْمُومٍyaḥmūminit scalds. ﴿٤٣﴾
[56:44] Never cool, never tolerable.
لَّاlāNotبَارِدٍbāridincoolوَلَاwalāand notكَرِيمٍkarīminpleasant / fair / tolerable. ﴿٤٤﴾
[56:45] They used to be rich.
إِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, theyكَانُوا۟kānū[they] wereقَبْلَqablabeforeذَٰلِكَdhālikathatمُتْرَفِينَmut'rafīnawealthy ones. ﴿٤٥﴾
[56:46] They insisted on the great blasphemy.
وَكَانُوا۟wakānūAnd used toيُصِرُّونَyuṣirrūna[they] persistعَلَىʿalāinٱلْحِنثِl-ḥinthithe perjury / sin / blasphemyٱلْعَظِيمِl-ʿaẓīmithe great. ﴿٤٦﴾
[56:47] They said, "After we die and turn to dust and bones, we get resurrected?
وَكَانُوا۟wakānūAnd they used toيَقُولُونَyaqūlūna[they] say,أَئِذَاa-idhā"What! When [in the future]مِتْنَاmit'nāwe diedوَكُنَّاwakunnāand we becameتُرَابًاturābandustوَعِظَـٰمًاwaʿiẓāmanand bones,أَءِنَّاa-innāwill we (be)لَمَبْعُوثُونَlamabʿūthūnasurely those resurrected? ﴿٤٧﴾
[56:48] "Does this include our forefathers?"
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَاawaābāunā"Also our fathersٱلْأَوَّلُونَl-awalūnathe former [ones]?" ﴿٤٨﴾
[56:49] Say, "The early generations and the later generations.
قُلْqulSay,إِنَّinna"Indeed,ٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīnathe former ones / early generations,وَٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَwal-ākhirīnaand the later ones / later generations. ﴿٤٩﴾
[56:50] "Will be summoned to a meeting on a predetermined day.
لَمَجْمُوعُونَlamajmūʿūna"Surely (will be) those summonedإِلَىٰilāforمِيقَـٰتِmīqāti(the) appointmentيَوْمٍyawmin(of) a Dayمَّعْلُومٍmaʿlūminknown / specified." ﴿٥٠﴾
[56:51] "Then you, O disbelieving strayers.
ثُمَّthumma"Thenإِنَّكُمْinnakumindeed you [all],أَيُّهَاayyuhāOٱلضَّآلُّونَl-ḍālūnathe ones astrayٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَl-mukadhibūnathe deniers / disbelievers. ﴿٥١﴾
[56:52] "Will eat from the trees of bitterness.
لَـَٔاكِلُونَlaākilūna"Surely ones eatingمِنminfromشَجَرٍshajarintreesمِّنminofزَقُّومٍzaqqūmindeadly food / bitterness. ﴿٥٢﴾
[56:53] "Filling your bellies therefrom.
فَمَالِـُٔونَfamāliūna"Then ones who fillمِنْهَاmin'hātherefromٱلْبُطُونَl-buṭūnathe bellies. ﴿٥٣﴾
[56:54] "Then drinking on top of it hellish drinks.
فَشَـٰرِبُونَfashāribūna"Then ones who drinkعَلَيْهِʿalayhiover itمِنَminafromٱلْحَمِيمِl-ḥamīmithe scalding water. ﴿٥٤﴾
[56:55] "Then adding drinks of sand."
فَشَـٰرِبُونَfashāribūna"And ones who drinkشُرْبَshur'baa drink* (of)ٱلْهِيمِl-hīmithe thirsty camels (*sand)." ﴿٥٥﴾
[56:56] Such is their share on the Day of Judgment.
هَـٰذَاhādhāThis (is)نُزُلُهُمْnuzuluhumtheir accommodations / shareيَوْمَyawma(on the) Day (of)ٱلدِّينِl-dīni[the] Judgment. ﴿٥٦﴾
Reflections
[56:57] We have created you, if you could only believe!
نَحْنُnaḥnuWeخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْkhalaqnākum[we] created you [all],فَلَوْلَاfalawlāso why (do) notتُصَدِّقُونَtuṣaddiqūnayou [all] admit the truth / realize the reality of? ﴿٥٧﴾
[56:58] Have you noted the semen that you produce?
أَفَرَءَيْتُمafara-aytumAnd do you [all] seeمَّاmāwhatتُمْنُونَtum'nūnayou [all] emit (*semen)? ﴿٥٨﴾
[56:59] Did you create it, or did we?
ءَأَنتُمْa-antumIs it you [all] (who)تَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓtakhluqūnahu[you all] created itأَمْamor areنَحْنُnaḥnuweٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَl-khāliqūnathe creators? ﴿٥٩﴾
[56:60] We have predetermined death for you. Nothing can stop us -
نَحْنُnaḥnuWeقَدَّرْنَاqaddarnā[we] decreedبَيْنَكُمُbaynakumuamong you [all]ٱلْمَوْتَl-mawtathe deathوَمَاwamāand not (are)نَحْنُnaḥnuweبِمَسْبُوقِينَbimasbūqīnaever those who are outrunned (*can be stopped). ﴿٦٠﴾
[56:61] from substituting new generations in your place, and establishing what you do not know.
عَلَىٰٓʿalāInأَنanthatنُّبَدِّلَnubaddilawe will substituteأَمْثَـٰلَكُمْamthālakumyour likenessوَنُنشِئَكُمْwanunshi-akumand we produce you [all]فِىfīinمَاmāwhatلَاlānotتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou [all] know. ﴿٦١﴾
[56:62] You know about the first creation. Do you not remember?
وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyعَلِمْتُمُʿalim'tumuyou [all] knewٱلنَّشْأَةَl-nashatathe creationٱلْأُولَىٰl-ūlāthe first,فَلَوْلَاfalawlāso why notتَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnayou [all] take heed / remember? ﴿٦٢﴾
[56:63] Have you noted the crops you reap?
أَفَرَءَيْتُمafara-aytumAnd have you [all] consideredمَّاmāwhatتَحْرُثُونَtaḥruthūnayou [all] sow? ﴿٦٣﴾
[56:64] Did you grow them, or did we?
ءَأَنتُمْa-antumIs it you [all] (who)تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓtazraʿūnahu[you all] cause it to growأَمْamor areنَحْنُnaḥnuweٱلزَّٰرِعُونَl-zāriʿūnathe ones who cause to grow? ﴿٦٤﴾
[56:65] If we will, we can turn it into hay. Then you will lament:
لَوْlawIfنَشَآءُnashāuwe willلَجَعَلْنَـٰهُlajaʿalnāhusurely we could have made itحُطَـٰمًاḥuṭāmandebris / hay.فَظَلْتُمْfaẓaltumThen you [all] (would) remainتَفَكَّهُونَtafakkahūna[you all] wondering / lamenting. ﴿٦٥﴾
[56:66] "We lost.
إِنَّاinnā"Indeed, weلَمُغْرَمُونَlamugh'ramūnasurely are those laden with debt (*lost). ﴿٦٦﴾
[56:67] "We are deprived."
بَلْbal"Nay,نَحْنُnaḥnuwe (are)مَحْرُومُونَmaḥrūmūnaones deprived." ﴿٦٧﴾
[56:68] Have you noted the water you drink?
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُafara-aytumuAnd have you [all] consideredٱلْمَآءَl-māathe water,ٱلَّذِىalladhīwhichتَشْرَبُونَtashrabūnayou [all] drink? ﴿٦٨﴾
[56:69] Did you send it down from the clouds, or did we?
ءَأَنتُمْa-antumIs it you [all]أَنزَلْتُمُوهُanzaltumūhu[you all] (who) sent it downمِنَminafromٱلْمُزْنِl-muz'nithe clouds,أَمْamor areنَحْنُnaḥnuweٱلْمُنزِلُونَl-munzilūnathe ones who send down? ﴿٦٩﴾
[56:70] If we will, we can make it salty. You should be thankful.
لَوْlawIfنَشَآءُnashāuwe willedجَعَلْنَـٰهُjaʿalnāhuwe (could) make itأُجَاجًاujājansalty,فَلَوْلَاfalawlāso why notتَشْكُرُونَtashkurūnayou [all] are thankful. ﴿٧٠﴾
[56:71] Have you noted the fire you ignite?
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُafara-aytumuAnd have you [all] consideredٱلنَّارَl-nārathe fire,ٱلَّتِىallatīwhichتُورُونَtūrūnayou [all] ignite? ﴿٧١﴾
[56:72] Did you initiate its tree, or did we?
ءَأَنتُمْa-antumIs it you [all]أَنشَأْتُمْanshatum[you all] (who) produced / initiatedشَجَرَتَهَآshajaratahāits treeأَمْamor areنَحْنُnaḥnuweٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَl-munshiūnathe producers / initiators? ﴿٧٢﴾
[56:73] We rendered it a reminder, and a useful tool for the users.
نَحْنُnaḥnuWeجَعَلْنَـٰهَاjaʿalnāhā[we] made itتَذْكِرَةًtadhkiratana reminderوَمَتَـٰعًاwamatāʿanand a provision / useful toolلِّلْمُقْوِينَlil'muq'wīnafor those who are lost and wandering / needy / users. ﴿٧٣﴾
[56:74] You shall glorify the name of your Lord, the Great.
فَسَبِّحْfasabbiḥSo glorifyبِٱسْمِbi-is'miin (the) nameرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lord,ٱلْعَظِيمِl-ʿaẓīmithe Great. ﴿٧٤﴾
Only the Sincere Can Understand the Quran
[56:75] I swear by the positions of the stars.
فَلَآfalāBut nay,أُقْسِمُuq'simuI swearبِمَوَٰقِعِbimawāqiʿiby setting / position (of)ٱلنُّجُومِl-nujūmithe stars. ﴿٧٥﴾
*56:75-76 Our universe, the smallest and innermost of seven universes, contains a billion galaxies, a billion trillion stars, spanning billions of light years. These uncountable decillions of heavenly bodies maintain their orbits in a divinely controlled precision. The more we learn, the more we realize how awesome this oath is. See Appendix 6.
[56:76] This is an oath, if you only knew, that is awesome.*
وَإِنَّهُۥwa-innahuAnd indeed, it (is)لَقَسَمٌlaqasamunsurely an oath,لَّوْlawifتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou [all] knowعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat / awesome. ﴿٧٦﴾
[56:77] This is an honorable Quran.
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, it (is)لَقُرْءَانٌlaqur'ānunsurely a Quranكَرِيمٌkarīmunhonorable. ﴿٧٧﴾
[56:78] In a protected book.
فِىfīInكِتَـٰبٍkitābina bookمَّكْنُونٍmaknūninhidden / preserved / protected. ﴿٧٨﴾
[56:79] None can grasp it except the sincere.*
لَّاlāNotيَمَسُّهُۥٓyamassuhu[he] (can) touch / grasp itإِلَّاillāexceptٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَl-muṭaharūnathe purified / sincere [ones]. ﴿٧٩﴾
*56:79 The insincere who are not satisfied with the Quran alone are divinely prevented from understanding the Quran. This concept is repeated throughout the Quran (17:45, 18:57). Consequently, they cannot understand this verse. For example, compare this translation of 7:3, 17:46, 41:44, & 56:79 with other translations.
[56:80] A revelation from the Lord of the universe.
تَنزِيلٌtanzīlunA Revelationمِّنminfromرَّبِّrabbi(the) Lord (of)ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīnathe worlds / universe. ﴿٨٠﴾
[56:81] Are you disregarding this narration?
أَفَبِهَـٰذَاafabihādhāThen is it to thisٱلْحَدِيثِl-ḥadīthi[the] Hadith / narrationأَنتُمantumyou [all] (are)مُّدْهِنُونَmud'hinūna[ones] indifferent / compromising (*disregarding)? ﴿٨١﴾
[56:82] Do you make it your business that you disbelieve?
وَتَجْعَلُونَwatajʿalūnaAnd you [all] makeرِزْقَكُمْriz'qakumyour provision / sustenance (business)أَنَّكُمْannakumthat you [all]تُكَذِّبُونَtukadhibūna[you all] deny / disbelieve. ﴿٨٢﴾
[56:83] When the time comes and it (your soul) reaches your throat -
فَلَوْلَآfalawlāThen why notإِذَاidhāwhenبَلَغَتِbalaghatiit reachedٱلْحُلْقُومَl-ḥul'qūmathe throat. ﴿٨٣﴾
[56:84] you will then look around.
وَأَنتُمْwa-antumAnd you [all]حِينَئِذٍḥīna-idhin(at) that timeتَنظُرُونَtanẓurūnayou [all] look. ﴿٨٤﴾
[56:85] We are closer to it than you are, but you do not see.
وَنَحْنُwanaḥnuAnd we (are)أَقْرَبُaqrabunearer / closerإِلَيْهِilayhito itمِنكُمْminkumthan you [all]وَلَـٰكِنwalākinbutلَّاlānotتُبْصِرُونَtub'ṣirūnayou [all] see. ﴿٨٥﴾
[56:86] If it is true that you do not owe any accounting -
فَلَوْلَآfalawlāThen why not,إِنinifكُنتُمْkuntumyou [all] areغَيْرَghayranotمَدِينِينَmadīnīnaones who are brought to judgment / held accountable / requited, ﴿٨٦﴾
[56:87] why do you not restore (your soul), if you are truthful?
تَرْجِعُونَهَآtarjiʿūnahāyou [all] bring it back,إِنinifكُنتُمْkuntumyou [all] areصَـٰدِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful ones? ﴿٨٧﴾
[56:88] If he is one of those close to Me -
فَأَمَّآfa-ammāThen whatإِنinifكَانَkānahe wasمِنَminaofٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَl-muqarabīnathose brought close? ﴿٨٨﴾
[56:89] then joy, flowers, and gardens of bliss.
فَرَوْحٌfarawḥunThen joyوَرَيْحَانٌwarayḥānunand fragrant flowery plantsوَجَنَّتُwajannatuand a garden (of)نَعِيمٍnaʿīminpleasure / bliss. ﴿٨٩﴾
[56:90] And if he is one of the right -
وَأَمَّآwa-ammāAnd whatإِنinifكَانَkānahe wasمِنْminofأَصْحَـٰبِaṣḥābi(the) companions (of)ٱلْيَمِينِl-yamīnithe right? ﴿٩٠﴾
[56:91] peace is the lot of those on the right.
فَسَلَـٰمٌfasalāmunThen, peaceلَّكَlakafor you;مِنْminfromأَصْحَـٰبِaṣḥābi(the) companions (of)ٱلْيَمِينِl-yamīnithe right. ﴿٩١﴾
[56:92] But if he is one of the disbelievers, the strayers -
وَأَمَّآwa-ammāBut whatإِنinifكَانَkānahe wasمِنَminaofٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَl-mukadhibīnathe deniers / disbelievers,ٱلضَّآلِّينَl-ḍālīnathe strayers? ﴿٩٢﴾
[56:93] then an abode of inferno -
فَنُزُلٌfanuzulunThen, (the) abodeمِّنْminofحَمِيمٍḥamīmin(the) inferno. ﴿٩٣﴾
[56:94] and burning in Hell.
وَتَصْلِيَةُwataṣliyatuAnd burningجَحِيمٍjaḥīmin(in) Hellfire. ﴿٩٤﴾
[56:95] This is the absolute truth.
إِنَّinnaIndeed,هَـٰذَاhādhāthisلَهُوَlahuwasurely it (is)حَقُّḥaqqu(the) truthٱلْيَقِينِl-yaqīni[the] certain / absolute. ﴿٩٥﴾
[56:96] You shall glorify the name of your Lord, the Great.
فَسَبِّحْfasabbiḥSo glorifyبِٱسْمِbi-is'miin (the) nameرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lord,ٱلْعَظِيمِl-ʿaẓīmithe Great. ﴿٩٦﴾
